Serial leaker @kopite7kimi has leaked the seemingly final memory configuration for the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4090 and the RTX 4070. Per the leaker, the RTX 4090 will feature the AD102 GPU and carry 24 GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps. This memory configuration is exactly the same as the RTX 3090 Ti with the GA102 GPU. So, assuming that the RTX 4090 will also feature the same 384-bit wide bus, the top-of-the-line Lovelace card will have a memory bandwidth of 1 TBps.
Aside from the RTX 4090, kopit7kimi also further detailed the memory specs of the midrange RTX 4070 featuring the AD104 die. We previously reported that the RTX 4070 will allegedly have 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. The latest leak puts the memory speed at 18 Gbps. In other words, the RTX 4070 will allegedly have 50% more and significantly faster VRAM than its predecessor, the RTX 3070.
Thanks to countless leaks, we know almost everything about the Lovelace lineup. For instance, the RTX 4090 is reportedly incredibly power-hungry with sources pointing to a 600 W TDP for the GPU with some AIB models reported to push past 700 W. While we don’t know the exact CUDA core count of the card, Tom’s Hardware speculates that the number is expected to lie between 17,000 and 18,500.
kopite7kimi’s track record of leaks is quite good, but the information is still unofficial, so there may be surprises in store for us. However, we won’t have to wait too long to find out what Team Green has to offer since Nvidia is likely going to launch its next-generation RTX 4000 series later this year.
