Deal | Latest Dell XPS 14 and 16 series is already on sale despite being in market for barely a month

It was only a month ago when Dell officially revived the XPS branding with new chassis designs and the latest Intel Panther Lake CPUs. Perhaps just as impressively, the new models became available almost immediately afterwards to be some of the first mass market laptops sporting Intel's new processor lineup. At $1600 for the XPS 14 and $1750 for the XPS 16, however, the flagship systems didn't come cheap even at their base configurations.
Luckily for those who have waited, Dell has now trimmed off $250 from the aforementioned prices for new starting prices of $1350 and $1500 for the XPS 14 and XPS 16, respectively. Users can enjoy all the benefits of the updated chassis design, of which there are many, while running on the Core Ultra 5 325 CPU.
There is nonetheless a big asterisk to keep in mind in regards to the sale. As shown by the official product pages of the models, the $250 price cut applies only to the base configurations of the XPS 14 and XPS 16. Individual upgrades such as doubling the soldered RAM from 16 GB to 32 GB can still be very costly at an additional $400. If your daily workloads involve mostly word processing and spreadsheets, however, then the base Core Ultra 5 and 16 GB configurations should suffice. Upgrading from IPS non-touch to higher resolution OLED touchscreens is notably inexpensive at just $150 on each of the two models should buyers want improved colors and multimedia playback.
There is no word on how long the sale will last or if it applies to all regions, but price cuts this soon after launch are an example of how volatile PCs have become in the current age of component shortages.
