LG is tapping into the burgeoning home brewing market with its new connected LG HomeBrew. Already the recipient of a 2019 CES Innovation Award, LG will be displaying the HomeBrew on the floor at CES when the trade show opens in early January. It will launch with both iOS and Android companion apps that will allow users to keep an eye on the process of their brew remotely.
HomeBrew capsules will come in five flavors that will appeal to millennials which have been helping to drive the craft brewing craze. Flavors include American IPA, American Pale Ale, English Stout, Belgian Witbier and Czech Pilsner. Everything needed to brew the beer is contained within the capsule including malt, yeast, hop oil and flavors, much like popular coffee pod-based systems.
The HomeBrew will make up to five liters of beer in a process that takes around two weeks. Even better, once you’ve brewed your batch, the device uses an automatic sanitation mode to clean itself making instantly ready to go for round two. While it takes the art out of brewing your own drop, it does make it so easy that the HomeBrew is sure to find a eager audience.
I have been writing about consumer technology over the past ten years, previously with the former MacNN and Electronista, and now Notebookcheck since 2017. My first computer was an Apple ][c and this sparked a passion for Apple, but also technology in general. In the past decade, I’ve become increasingly platform agnostic and love to get my hands on and explore as much technology as I can get my hand on. Whether it is Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation, each has plenty to offer and has given me great joy exploring them all. I was drawn to writing about tech because I love learning about the latest devices and also sharing whatever insights my experience can bring to the site and its readership.
