On the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima took to the stage during his “Beyond the Strand” livestream in Tokyo on September 23, 2025, and gave some early details on his upcoming PlayStation exclusive action-espionage title Physint.
The livestream also featured a new trailer for his upcoming Xbox horror collaboration OD, and updates on his expansion of the Death Stranding universe with an anime dubbed Death Stranding Mosquito, and a live-action film.
Sony’s Hermen Hulst first teased Physint in January 2024 during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, where Kojima appeared and confirmed it to be “a culmination” of his life’s work and the “next stage of tactical espionage action.”
Kojima candidly spoke to broadcast viewers and stated that Physint remains in its early conceptual infancy, with the developer handling character creation and casting ideas solo while the team focuses its efforts on OD’s completion. He said, “It’s just the start.”
The debut poster for Physint features a gritty, shadowy first glimpse at the game’s protagonist. The silhouetted male character is decked out with an SMG, wearing a sleek trenchcoat, while gloomy towers can be seen in the backdrop.
The poster also features a tagline, “Here Comes the Feeling,” which Kojima has yet to elaborate on. Casting for the lead remains under wraps, and was delayed in part by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes, but Kojima has promised an announcement in due time, noting that Physint’s character design draws some loose inspiration from Solid Snake.
Complementing the reveal, Kojima announced the first three confirmed cast members for the project, each delivering pre-recorded video messages for Beyond the Strand. Australian model-turned-actress Charlee Fraser, who portrayed Mary Jabassa in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, joins the cast, alongside South Korean Don Lee, known for his role in Train to Busan and as Gilgamesh in Marvel’s Eternals. Rounding out the confirmed cast members is Japanese Minami Hamabe, who played Noriko Oishi in Godzilla Minus One.
However, their roles remain under wraps. Despite this, Kojima gave us an insight into the photorealistic ambition of the game by giving us a life-like character model reveal of Minami Hamabe.
Kojima stated that Physint’s in-engine tech will surpass even the visual fidelity of the Decima Engine, which was used for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Kojima is prioritizing OD’s rollout, with no firm release window for Physint. Earlier, he noted that the project would take another five to six years, indicating that the game could release past 2030, probably on the PlayStation 6.
