Kimi K3 weights released: China's most powerful agentic AI from Moonshot AI free

Moonshot AI has released the weights for its leading-edge Kimi K3 AI model for free on Hugging Face. The 2.8-trillion-parameter AI model comes with a 1-trillion-token context window, enabling the AI agent to process long documents and tackle complex tasks with ease. Business developers, researchers, and AI enthusiasts with very high-end compute systems can now run Kimi K3 locally at no additional cost.

Kimi K3 launched in July 2026 and immediately ranked among the top five most powerful agentic AI on the planet, according to the Arena Intelligence (formerly LMArena) leaderboard. It is currently ranked third on the Agent Arena, and eleventh on the Text Arena. Although Claude Fable and other proprietary AI models top Kimi K3, those AI model weights are not available for download for free use.

Business users and AI researchers who are interested in using the free AI model should know that system requirements will be quite heavy to support the non-distilled 1+ TB model, such as an Nvidia DGX B200 with 1,440 GB of total GPU memory to load the full model and an AMD EPYC system with terabytes of RAM and storage.
