The team behind the K36 is preparing to launch a much larger gaming handheld that should soon be available as the K560. Previously thought of as the Powkiddy K56, the K560 leans heavily on the Retroid Pocket 5 in its first official-looking teaser image.

A few months have passed since rumours emerged about Powkiddy developing another 5.5-inch gaming handheld. In summary, the so-called K56 was thought of as the Powkiddy X55 (curr. $109.96 on Amazon) successor that also utilised a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. Powkiddy quickly clarified that it was not the company behind the device though, which seemingly nixed the idea of the K56 altogether.

However, members of RetroHandhelds' Discord have discovered that the K56 could actually be a real device, albeit one developed under a different name by the team behind the K36. According to RetroHandhelds, the device is being worked on as the K560 by Helegaly with the following chipset variants:

MediaTek Helio G99 Unisoc T620
Node 6 nm 12 nm
CPU 2x ARM Cortex-A76 (2.2 GHz)
6x ARM Cortex-A55 (2 GHz)
2x ARM Cortex-A75 (2.2 GHz)
6x ARM Cortex-A55 (1.8 GHz)
GPU ARM Mali-G57 MP2 ARM Mali-G57 MP1
RAM LPDDR3/LPDR4x-2133 LPDR4x-1866
Storage eMMC 5.1/UFS 2.1 eMMC 5.1/UFS 2.1/UFS 2.2

In short, variants with the Helio G99 will be considerably more powerful than the Unisoc T620 counterparts. Please note that the K560 may well be sold by different companies as well, if the K36 is anything to go by. Nonetheless, all K560 SKUs are expected to utilise a 720p (1,280 x 720) display with a 16:9 aspect ratio that still spans 5.5-inches across.

Moreover, the gaming handheld may run a fork of ArkOS out of the box developed by AeoluxUX, which was also the first to showcase the K560 on RetroHandhelds' Discord. Although release dates for the K560 remain unknown for now, RetroHandhelds has showcased hands-on footage of the device, which we have embedded below. Incidentally, the teaser image that AeoluxUX posted on Discord closely resembles an equivalent for the Pocket 5, another 5.5-inch gaming handheld whose specifications, release date and launch pricing Retroid has now confirmed.
