Just call it the Surface Pro: Microsoft unveils Surface Pro update in Shanghai
The latest update of Microsoft's venerated Surface Pro line has been unveiled at an event today in Shanghai as not the Surface Pro 5, but simply the Surface Pro. At first glance, the Surface Pro looks quite a bit like the Surface Pro 4, but make no mistake — there are quite a few changes and upgrades.
For one, it now offers a 4G LTE option with both e-SIM and nano-SIM support. Design-wise, the corners have been slightly rounded and the ventilation has been revamped. Most impressively, the ventilation changes allow the Core i5 version to be completely fanless, though the i7 still has active cooling. In addition to these changes, the tablet's chassis is also slightly thinner and lighter, and battery life is allegedly improved to 13 hours. Unfortunately, Microsoft has once again snubbed USB-C, though this was expected after the Surface Laptop was revealed to have no USB Type-C either.
The new Surface Pro will be available on June 15, the same date as the Surface Laptop.
