Intel Core i7-12650HX's powerful UserBenchmark performance shows how far Alder Lake is from Tiger Lake
The Intel Core i7-12650HX has been found being tested on UserBenchmark (via VideoCardz). Only a single sample has been recorded so far, and it managed an average bench of 104% with a normal score of 213 points, heavy at 963 points, and server at 1,962 points. If the sample was placed into the synthetic benchmark’s charts, it would actually join the Rocket Lake i9-11900K desktop chip in 11th place while sneaking ahead of the i9-11900KF.
It's an astonishing benchmark by a mobile part, with the record revealing that the Intel Core i7-12650HX has 14 cores (6P + 8E), 20 threads, base clock of 2.3 GHz, and in this instance, an average turbo of 4.05 GHz. The configuration makes this SKU considerably different from its near Alder Lake namesake, the i7-12650H. This CPU has 10 cores and 16 threads, and it also has a lower PBP of 45 W (vs. 55 W for the i7-12650HX).
Ignoring Intel’s bemusing naming scheme for a moment, this entry really does exemplify how much Team Blue has improved its mobile parts from Tiger Lake to Alder Lake. Top-end 11th Gen parts, like the i9-11980HK and i7-11800H, have UserBenchmark averages of 90.6% and 87.1%, respectively, with the 14-core I7-12650HX demolishing its predecessors in every test. The source even opines a mighty i9-12980HX chip with 16 cores (8x Performance + 8x Efficient) could be in the works.
