Deal | Innocn launches latest 27-inch 1440p gaming monitor with 240 Hz refresh rate for US$349 ↺
(April 4, 2023 update: Amazon has now dropped the price by $50 USD for a sale price of $349)
Innocn has just released its newest 27-inch monitor this week called the 27G1S. The gaming-centric monitor complements the manufacturer's existing 4K 27-inch monitor which is instead primarily designed for graphics editing. Core specifications for the monitor include:
- 27-inch 2560 x 1440, 240 Hz
- FreeSync and G-Sync compatible
- HDR10, VA
- 2500:1 contrast ratio
- 99% sRGB
- 2x HDMI 2.1, 2x DisplayPort 1.4
- 12.87 pounds with stand
The key characteristic of the 27G1S is its use of VA instead of IPS. VA can offer 2x to 3x the contrast ratio of IPS for deeper black levels and potentially more vibrant colors. The drawbacks, however, includes limited viewing angles and generally slower gray-to-gray response times. For what it's worth, Innocn advertises a 1 ms response time, but we'll have to measure it ourselves to see if that really applies for both black-white and gray-gray changes.
The 240 Hz refresh rate deserves a spotlight as well. Most other 27-inch gaming monitors in this price range top out at 144 Hz or 165 Hz in comparison.
Amazon is now shipping the Innocn 27G1S for $400 USD. We expect to have a sample unit soon for our full impressions.
