Hyundai’s all-electric Genesis GV60 is now available to order in the US. The EV features Face Connect, a tool that enables you to lock and unlock the car with your face, which the company claims is a world first.
Face Connect works thanks to a near infra-red (NIR) camera in the B-pillar, and two drivers can use the feature. You can link the facial unlocking tool to your driver profile to automatically adjust settings such as seat and steering wheel positions.
You can also use a built-in fingerprint scanning system or Genesis Digital Key 2 to unlock your car with a compatible Apple or Samsung phone or smartwatch. The digital key can easily be shared with other drivers via iMessage.
Two trims will be available, starting with the entry-level 2023 Genesis GV60 Advanced AWD with 74 kW front and 160 kW rear motors to generate 314 hp. This model includes the Face Connect function, a 12.3-in (~31 cm) digital cluster and vehicle-to-load charging technology.
The more expensive 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance AWD has a more powerful front motor at 160 kW (429 hp), and Boost Mode enables the car to produce 483 hp. Other upgrades include the Ergo Motion massaging driver’s seat and the Genesis Digital Key 2.
Both models have a 77.4 kWh battery providing up to 248 miles (~399 km) of range. Plus, Genesis has partnered with Electrify America to offer customers free 30-minute charging sessions for three years. You can now pre-order the Genesis GV60 in the US, with prices starting at US$58,890.
