Reviews for the Huawei P60 Pro

88.8% Huawei P60 Pro review - A strong camera smartphone even without Leica | Notebookcheck
Huawei's P60 Pro focuses entirely on photography and aims to further improve on the last generation's already great low-light capabilities - in particular when it comes to its periscope camera. Furthermore, the high-end smartphone aims to impress with its unusual design. This review will tell you whether this phone is a job well done for Huawei.

Huawei P60 Pro Battery test
Source: DxOMark English
The Huawei P60 Pro’s charging experience for both wired and wireless charging was very good. The wired charger took only 47 minutes to replenish the battery, and a 5-minute quick charge provided an excellent 8 hours and 12 minutes of autonomy on average. The wireless 50W charger refilled the battery in slightly more than 1 hour and 15 minutes, which was among the best wireless times we have measured. The wired charge efficiency was below average with high residual consumption of charger when the device was fully charged and still plugged in. However, the wireless charge efficiency was better than average. The discharge currents were low when gaming and scrolling on social apps, but high when using the camera, and average for other usages, meaning that the device is not perfectly optimized.

Huawei P60 Pro Display test
Source: DxOMark English
The Huawei P60 Pro provided a very satisfying display user experience overall, thanks to a flicker-free screen, very good color rendering, and smooth touch interactions, making the device best suited for general uses such as browsing the web or viewing the gallery. The screen’s brightness level was very good in indoor and low-light environments. However, our measurements showed that in challenging situations, such as outdoors in sunlight, the display underperformed its rivals with less luminosity, which affected readability. When it came to the screen’s colors, we found that Huawei P60 Pro’s color rendering was good and faithful in every lighting condition. The P60 Pro display provided a satisfactory video-watching experience, thanks to effective frame-drop management.

Huawei P60 Pro Audio test
Source: DxOMark English
The Huawei P60 Pro delivered a solid performance in our DXOMARK Audio tests for both playback and recording. As a playback device, the Huawei performed best when listening to music but also did well in our gaming and movie-watching use cases. Recording quality was best with the front camera, with the main camera and memo apps results were slightly lower. Tonal balance in playback was satisfying, and dynamics performance was very good in playback and recording. Recordings at high sound pressure levels, for example electronic music concerts, were generally free of excessive distortion and pumping. However, the P60 Pro also showed some obvious flaws that could have been easily fixed with better tuning, such as bass distortion in playback, and inconsistent treble in recordings.

60% Huawei P60 Pro Review
Source: Trusted Reviews English
The usual limitations make it hard to recommend the Huawei P60 Pro to most people. It costs a fortune but doesn’t have 5G, and can’t run the majority of Android’s best and most ambitious apps and games. Don’t underestimate what a headache the lack of Gmail, Google Play and Google Maps may end up being. We can’t wipe away those long-standing issues in a review designed to help you decide whether you want to buy a phone or not. However, there’s plenty of positive stuff in the Huawei P60 Pro too. Its camera array is excellent, the design is slick and the display is great.

Enjoy Your Favourite Google Apps On The P60 Pro Through The Huawei Appgallery
Source: Buro247 English
Our smart devices, like smartphones, have inevitably become an integral part of our lives for good reason. Whether you’re using them for productivity, entertainment, or social media, there’s literally nothing a smart device cannot do. That said, it’s the apps on these devices that ultimately make our lives just that much easier. Recognising this, HUAWEI has consistently been ramping up its AppGallery, which is its official app distribution platform available on all of its devices. Since being introduced in 2019, the AppGallery has indeed come a long way and today it houses most of the world’s most used apps, including Google Apps. No matter what your lifestyle needs are, the HUAWEI AppGallery has it all, whether that means banking, shopping, or food delivery. The best part about it all is that these apps, like the Google Apps, are super effortless to install through the AppGallery.

80% HUAWEI's new flagship camera phone makes me want to drop my mirrorless camera
Source: Android Authority English
HUAWEI’s reputation as a photography powerhouse earns fresh endorsement with the P60 Pro. The phone’s impressive low light, zoom, and manual mode features match and even go beyond what you’ll find with other highly regarded photography-focused smartphones. If you’re serious about mobile photography and want a smartphone that won’t disappoint you, the HUAWEI P60 PRO should be on your shortlist. Camera aside, the problem with HUAWEI’s flagship is that you’re buying into some dated technology elsewhere. The phone’s processor is a year older than the best available at launch, it doesn’t support 5G networks, EMUI is still based on an equivalent of Android 12 with no solid commitment to future upgrades, and there’s still the “no Google” issue due to the ongoing US-Huawei trade ban.

80% Huawei P60 Pro Review: Captures What Others Can’t
Source: Htxt Africa English
At R24 999 (RRP) the Huawei P60 Pro is every inch a flagship phone. There are some concessions, such as the lack of 5G support and the ongoing workarounds needed for accessing Google services. When weighed against the hardware, a lot of this is forgivable, but perhaps only for the type of person who is au fait with side loading apps, such a tech journalist. As such, while the hardware is impressive and performance in a number of areas is top notch, the P60 Pro is not made for everyone, like its predecessors were.

75% Huawei P60 Pro Review: can a great camera make you forget the Google-less software?
Source: Phone Arena English
So... what's the verdict on the Huawei P60 Pro? If you appreciate the bold design and want to stand out, this phone definitely does. The main camera is excellent and really impressive, and we also loved the portrait mode photo quality, but this is not quite the all-around camera champ with the issues we noticed for video recording quality. The smooth performance and fast charging are also on the list of pros, and so is the brilliant display here. At the end of the day, with no native Google services, it's still hard recommending a Huawei phone to the average user. However, if you know what you're doing and are comfortable with sideloading apps and tweaking your Android device, then you can make it work. But hold on tightly to your chairs: the Huawei P60 Pro costs a whopping £1,200 in the UK and €1,200 in Europe!

Huawei P60 Pro hands-on: Still a photo-taking beast
Source: Hardware Zone English
A handful of things about the P60 Pro aren’t very remarkable by modern phone standards. It’s hard to move past the lack of native Google Mobile Services compatibility. Also, having a powerful processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1) that stops at 4G networking feels a little dated in countries and cities with increasingly commonplace 5G coverage.

88% Huawei P60 Pro review
Source: GSM Arena English
But we have to admit that the Huawei smartphones have always impressed us with their cameras, even their mid-range phones do better than many recent flagships. Huawei's ecosystem has grown even larger with their newly found focus on wearables, headphones, laptops and tablets, among which a Huawei phone would be in good company. So, if you have loved the Huawei cameras like we did, and you can live without 5G access, we are pretty sure you will find the new P60 Pro an excellent choice. When photography comes first, the P60 Pro has some pretty unique features not available on any other maker's phone. Long story short, the Huawei P60 Pro is a phone easy to love and even easier to hate. Like the iPhones. And just like Apple's devices, this one will make a worthy purchase if chosen for the right reasons.

Huawei P60 Pro Review

Its unique design, great sounding speakers, and superb camera system are all enticing reasons for why anyone should own this smartphone. It may not have the biggest battery in its segment but having a very very quick charger more than makes up for it. Is it the still image camera king of 2023? At the time of this writing, definitely. With a suggested retail price of PHP 58,999 (8GB RAM|265GB ROM), and PHP 68,999 (12GB RAM|512GB ROM) the Huawei P60 Pro continues to be a strong flagship offering.

Huawei P60 Pro Hands-on: The High Price to Pay
Source: Nextpit EN English
Of course, our verdict, which is based on the test devices on display at the Munich launch event, is only a first impression that we will immediately complete after the test arrives in the NextPit editorial office. The Huawei P60 Pro carries the same burden that the US has imposed on all of the company's smartphones with corresponding sanctions since 2019: no 5G and no Google Mobile Services, or apps. There are said to be a handful of people who consciously refuse to go without Google and its services. These might clap their hands at the Huawei P60 Pro and the corresponding trust in Chinese secrecy. For everyone else, the enthusiasm is limited despite a sufficiently fast processor, expandable memory, a great display, a large battery, and, above all, an outstanding triple main camera with variable aperture. Every Huawei fan will just shake their head after looking at the price tag. I do not see much buying potential for the Huawei P60 Pro in the West at this price—and without a final review. And you?

Unbelievable Camera Phone! | Huawei P60 Pro Unboxing & Safari Test
Source: Tech Spurt English
Unboxing the Huawei P60 Pro, with a 24 hour camera test including the remarkable telephoto zoom and night photography. The Huawei P60 Pro boasts one of the best camera setups of any smartphone in 2023, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra - although as usual there's no Google services. If you can live without that, you'll struggle to find better hardware anywhere else. Photography is as simple as point and shoot at any time of day. This flagship phone can capture great looking pics even in strong HDR situations and in near darkness. Likewise, the telephoto zoom is great for low light night photos. Meanwhile pro photographers can play around with a ten-step variable aperture on the Huawei P60 Pro, to get some tasty bokeh or a crisp night snap. Sadly this phone offers older Snapdragon tech and there's no 5G action, while you won't find the Google Play Store on here. So tracking down apps is trickier than with regular Android phones. Still, the display is stunning, those stereo speakers are beefy and the Huawei P60 Pro has great battery life.

Huawei P60 Pro hands-on review: seeing the light
Source: Stuff TV English
It’s a great looking flagship phone with a quality screen and wonderfully versatile set of cameras, which take clean, colourful and detailed photos in all lighting conditions. The variable aperture fills each frame with dreamy depth blur – when you want it – and the telephoto lens’ macro abilities are top notch. Low light performance is also uncanny, if best suited to those that prefer their pics artificially illuminated over dark and dingy. Add in all-day battery life and zippy performance, and the Huawei P60 Pro has plenty to like. The lack of Google support does hobble things on the software front, though. Rivals don’t have that disadvantage, and while they might not have lenses that are as lustworthy, they make up for it with larger sensors or higher pixel counts.

92% Huawei P60 Pro review: The world’s best mobile camera again?
Source: Root Nation English
Despite all the difficulties, under the yoke of sanctions, this year Huawei has managed to create and launch another flagship that can easily compete with the best representatives of the current smartphone market in terms of its photographic capabilities. For example, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Xiaomi 13 Pro. And the big question is who will emerge victorious from this battle. We hope to conduct a direct comparison of the above smartphones in the near future to find out who is the king of mobile photography at the moment. Of course, it’s hard to expect Huawei P60 Pro to become a bestseller in Europe, but our world is multifaceted, and in other regions, such as Asia, the Middle East, South and Latin America, this smartphone can become quite popular. Personally, I really liked the smartphone.

First Impressions: Huawei P60 Pro
Source: Trusted Reviews English
Some of the zoom and macro skills of the Huawei P60 Pro’s camera are simply stunning. The colours, the detail even when you’re pushing in 10x and the consistency of the image whether you’re shooting ultra wide or telephoto have absolutely blown me away during my first days with the phone. The camera hardware isn’t quite as impressive on paper as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra or Oppo Find X6 Pro, but the results are some of the very best I have ever from a camera phone. Plus, the far smaller camera housing isn’t anywhere near as in your face as those two competing phones. Camera aside, the P60 Pro has impressed me elsewhere too. The screen has just the right amount of curvature, while the pearly finish on the back of my review sample is soft and comfortable to hold – if a little opulent for my general tastes. But, of course, any Huawei phone comes with caveats.

Huawei P60 Pro hands-on review: A shot in the dark
Source: Expert Reviews English
Huawei phones tend to feel like they’re trying to make up for the lack of Google apps and 5G, and the P60 Pro is no different. The design is slick, the display is gorgeous and the hardware is decent – albeit not the best on the market right now. If anything is going to lure you away from the Samsungs and the Googles of the world, it’s going to be the camera array, which Huawei has made clear is the main focus. While the lenses here are certainly promising, I’m just not convinced that they’re worth such a high price tag, especially when you can get the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for around the same money or the Google Pixel 7 Pro for significantly less, and get 5G and Google apps to boot.

Huawei P60 Pro initial review: Superb camera, frustrating software
Source: Pocket Lint English
The Huawei P60 Pro has a lot of great things going for it. The display is great, battery life is good in our experience, and quick to charge, and the camera system is superb, delivering excellent results not only in good lighting conditions, but low light - and very low light - too. We don't love the Rococo Pearl finish, though it is certainly different, and the camera housing on the rear is in an awkward position for us, but these are both subjective, as there are no doubt some who will adore that pearly look. Plus, if the Huawei P60 Pro offered the Google Play Store and the access to the apps that come with that, we'd hands down recommend this device as a fantastic flagship smartphone with an excellent camera.

84% Huawei P60 Pro Review – Powerful Pearlescent Performer – Is this Huawei’s best phone yet?
Source: Hitech Century English
The Huawei P60 Pro has a set of unique strengths that set it apart from the pack. Its Rococo Pearl colourway is arguably the most premium finish available in the market and its rear Xmage triple camera system able to go toe to toe with other flagships especially in low light scenarios. The inclusion of an actual variable aperture system on its rear cameras in such a compact form factor lends it greater utility especially for content creators. It also features superb battery life and an excellent display. While it does feature Google app support after a fashion, the P60 Pro doesn’t use the latest CPU nor does it have 4G LTE though this does not impact its day to day performance which is still ahead of the curve

Huawei P60 Pro Hands-On, Quick Review: Is The King Back?
Source: Unbox English
The Huawei P60 Pro is one of the best cameraphones we’ve come across this year as we found in this quick review. Its camera performance is insanely impressive, showing off Huawei’s XMAGE tech, but the phone isn’t without its inherited quirks. After losing their DxOMark crown to former sub-brand Honor and their Magic5 Pro, Huawei is looking to climb back up to the top of the rankings with their new P60 Pro flagship. And if you know anything about Huawei you know that they’re not the sort of company to take anything lying down, so you can bet that they’re pulling out all the stops to retake that crown via their latest flagship. In China, the P60 Pro starts at RMB 6,988, or around Php 55.4k for the 256GB model. Take note that’s a direct conversion and local prices may vary once the phone is released in the country.

Huawei P60 and P60 Pro Smartphones Review
Source: OI Spice Tech News English
The Huawei P60 falls under the flagship killer category, but it can’t fully be said a perfect phone. There are flaws such as 4G connectivity, lack of Android software support, and so on. In that case, if you prefer a good combination of performance and camera, you can check out Google Pixel 7 Pro. If you are looking for a conventionally different phone, considering the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 would be a great choice, as it comes with a completely different set of features. While at the same time, it provides a flip phone experience. It’s a decent alternative to the Huawei P60 Pro in almost every aspect, except the camera results are borderline average.

Huawei P60 Pro Review: How XMAGE is Revolutionizing Smartphone Cameras
Source: Igeekphone English
In 2020, Huawei P40 Pro+ amazed the world with the world’s first 10x optical periscope telephoto lens, stacking mobile phone camera hardware to the extreme. In 2021, the Huawei P50 series reborn with XD Fusion Pro and computational optical system, coupled with a 40-megapixel black and white auxiliary imaging lens, once again proved that without extreme hardware conditions, with years of experience in image tuning and superior performance, The optimization of the mobile phone can also make the imaging capabilities of mobile phones reach the peak. After nearly a year and a half, the Huawei P60 Pro in 2023 is now innovating and leading at the bottom of the hardware and has achieved several world premieres at the level of mobile phone imaging hardware. Relying on the accumulated experience, the XMAGE imaging brand was created, which has been used twice in Huawei P60 Pro.

Comment

Model:

The latest to join the Huawei family is none other than the Huawei P60 Pro. Firstly, the smartphone comes in two colour options namely Black and Rococo Pearl. The latter has a marble-like pattern which is rather unique. In addition, it has a lovely sheen to it and is not prone to catching fingerprints like some other models. However, it is worth mentioning that the Rococo Pearl model is only available in the higher 12GB configuration. It definitely looks and feels like a high-end, premium phone, with a curved shape that is easy to hold and use. Having said that, the phone is aided by its light weight (200g), and slim build (8.3mm). Apart from that, the camera module is located on the left-hand side, with the main sensor dominating the design. This is definitely a departure from the two big circular lenses seen on the Huawei P50 Pro. While the camera does stick out making the phone unable to fully sit flat when placed back-down, it has been designed to look and shoot like a camera in landscape. In addition, there is a single USB-C port, and a dual-SIM slot.

In terms of its display, this model carries a 6.67in curved glass display with a resolution of 2700 x 1220, which is high definition but has a higher pixel density than 1080p standard HD. While the quality is similar to the found on the iPhone 14 Pro, it is still not as impressive as rivals such as the Galaxy S23+ which has a QHD+ panel. As for its processor, this smartphone has been fitted with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor which is paired with either 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, or 12GB RAM and 512GB. It is worth noting that this is not Qualcomm’s latest processor which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Despite that, the 8+ Gen 1 is a perfectly capable chip which allows multitasking with ease, streaming videos on Twitch and browsing social media with no stuttering or lag.

Talking about its camera, Huawei aimed to impress with the P60 Pro camera, and it is safe to say it has solidly delivered. The phone comes with a triple camera set-up led by a 48Mp main lens that has the same physical variable aperture tech seen on the Mate 50 Pro. Simply put, it has a moving part that allows users to choose ten different steps between f/1.4 and f/4.0 in the pro mode mode in the camera app. Being able to change the aperture on the P60 Pro opens the possibility for users to create a natural background blur on closer subjects without the use of software, or open up the lens to take in more of a landscape shot and keep all plains in focus. In addition, this clever main lens is complimented by a 13Mp ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and perhaps most excitingly, a 48Mp telephoto camera with a f/2.1 aperture, and 3.5x optical zoom. As for its battery, this model carries a 4815mAh battery. In a nutshell, it is a great phone to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.

Qualcomm Adreno 730: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 30% faster than the Adreno 660 in the Snapdragon 888 SoC. For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in late 2021.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

SD 8+ Gen 1: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in late 2021 and manufactured in 4 nm at TSMC. Integrates one “Prime Core” based on a ARM Cortex-X2 architecture clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. Three more performance cores are based on the A710 but clock up to 2.5 GHz. Furthermore, four energy saving cores are integrated that are based on the ARM Cortex-A510 architecture and clock at up to 1.8 GHz. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 6e modem, a Hexagon DSP (for AI acceleration) and a Spectra ISP. The integrated memory controller supports fast LPDDR5 memory with up to 3,200 MHz. 5G is now included in the chip with the Snapdragon X65 modem. Compared to the non plus version, the 8+ Gen 1 offers a 200 MHz higher clocked Prime Core and a 10% higher clocked GPU. Furthermore, it is now produced at TSMC and not Samsung.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

6.67":

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

Huawei: Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd. is a Chinese telecommunications company and hardware manufacturer founded in 1987 and headquartered in Shenzhen. Huawei is a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. Huawei provides end-to-end solutions for telecommunications networks, devices, and smartphones, as well as storage, servers, networking, and cloud computing enterprise solutions and products.

In 2014, Huawei established the Honor subsidiary brand under which certain smartphone lines are sold. The Huawei name is usually not listed for these products.

101.77%: This model is obviously considered exceptional by the testers. There are almost no laptops that are rated this well. If the reviews or the sources that give these ratings are to be taken seriously, then it is a very clear buy recommendation. Unfortunately, sometimes top scores are also squandered.
