Reviews for the Huawei Nova 11 Pro
Huawei has a high-end premium phone on offer with the Nova 11 Pro that wants to convince with super-fast charging, optical zoom, and an extraordinary look. The current sanctions often make it necessary to rethink while considering a Huawei phone, but the Nova 11 Pro might still be worth a look.

The Huawei nova 11 Pro is a charming phone with solid specs overall. It is simple yet good enough to get you through the day. If you don't mind the lack of Google support and could work without the standard Google PlayStore, this phone might be your cup of tea. However, at RM2359, there are other phones with better support and coverage. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S23 (RM2399) and vivo V25 Pro (RM2499) are great alternatives for the nova 11 Pro. The best part? They also feature Google support and the Google PlayStore, but if you can function without GMS then that's fine too.

Ultimately, it depends on whether or not the lack of Android bothers you. Privacy means something different for every individual and it depends on where your limits are. The Huawei Nova 11 Pro is, overall, a solid device. It has a great design, it's quick, it snaps great pictures, and that vegan leather detail on the back is truly stunning. The lightning-fast charging is spectacular and needs its own recognition. Do all these details justify the €699 price tag? Maybe. While the Nova 11 Pro isn't much of an upgrade over last year's model as far as specs go, it does add some cool elements. In our opinion, the highlights are the quick charging capacity, the vegan leather back, and the fact that it runs on EMUI 13 instead of EMUI 12. On the other hand, if you can still find the Nova 10 Pro for cheaper (and you don't mind the kitschy design), you may want to go with that one because you can upgrade it to EMUI 13, too.

At R16 999 (RRP), the Huawei Nova 11 Pro does not come cheap, even when comparing it to similar devices in the premium mid-range space. To make the R17k asking price more palatable, it features a unique back cover and colour option that other smartphone makers have not replicated yet. Added to this is a great display, all-day and then some battery life, and a solid camera performance that combine to deliver one of the better experiences at this price point. The problem, however, and it is one that will continue to be a problem, is that the phone’s software is not a one-size-fits-all for consumers. Yes, you can use a workaround, but there are simply people out there that don’t wish to do so. For everything the Huawei Nova 11 Pro gets right, this one aspect still won’t sit well with all.

Should you buy the Huawei Nova 11 Pro? Is this the phone for you? Well, it’ll certainly appeal to some people. The Huawei Nova 11 Pro offers an outstanding design. It fits great in the hand, you really have to try it out in order to realize how comfortable it is to hold and use, despite its size. The material on the back definitely helps with the grip. The cameras are good enough, even though not exactly flagship-grade. The display is also great, to say the least, and the software performs flawlessly. The thing is, plenty of apps are still missing from the AppGallery, and there are still apps out there that require specifically Google services in order to function. Google apps are not available here either, unless you use an Android emulator like GBox, which is not an ideal solution. Still, if the software is not an obstacle for you, and you want a very comfortable, and yet large device, with great selfie cameras, the Huawei Nova 11 Pro is worth considering, at the very least.

The Huawei Nova 11 Pro is a style and selfie-driven phone that looks the part and performs well for everyday jobs. Its selfies are great, and ultra-fast charging is never not welcome. However, the appeal drops when you realise it’s quite pricey for a 4G-only phone. And, like other Huawei phones, it doesn’t have Google apps. This means you have to use Huawei alternatives instead. Some of these are fine, but the AppGallery app store’s library isn’t nearly as good as Google Play’s. You get that with just about all rivals, including the Nothing Phone (2), Google Pixel 7 and OnePlus 11. While none of those has quite the same angle as the Nova 11 Pro, each gets you more for your cash, all considered.

Huawei nova 11 Pro attracts with its appearance and attracts attention with its display, camera and software features. Huawei nova 11 ProThere are not many cons, but they can be decisive for some people. No wireless charging, no 5G, slow USB-C 2.0, no Google mobile services to install, and a bad night mode. The advantages include the build quality of the nova 11 Pro, a good screen, cameras with excellent colour reproduction, a long-lasting battery with fast charging, and the Huawei ecosystem. There are not so many disadvantages - there is no wireless charging, 5G, or Google services. But overall, it's a great mid-range!

The rear cameras are also not half bad, and the seemingly modest ultrawide benefits greatly from having AF. The display is alright if hardly the brightest, battery life is in a similar 'not-amazing-not-bad' category, the chipset is dependable, and the in-house software is functional. But the lack of Google Mobile Services remains a major limitation, and certain apps won't work on the nova 11 Pro, while others we'd be hesitant to try to get to work on it with the workarounds that are available. And it's not just that either. For all its camera prowess, the phone isn't really a good video capture device on the back. The zoom selfie camera sounds like an interesting proposition, but only if you have a seflie stick or if you are a fan of a particular selfie video genre popularized by people dancing on Tik Tok.

In conclusion, the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro is a good mid-range device. It has great cameras, a really stylish and functional design, and a great screen. So what’s the problem? Well, it’s the price. At SRP, the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro is priced at Php 33,999. Even with all the great features on the nova 11 Pro, I just think you can spend the same amount of money (or less) on a phone with a faster or more recent chipset and a trouble-free and clean OS that’s complete with all Google apps and services. If you don’t need the flagship-level performance and really like the nova 11 Pro’s design, then the steep Php 34k asking price might be worth the spend. Personally, I’ll probably have to pass on the nova 11 Pro — even if I did enjoy using the phone a lot.

The Huawei nova 11 Pro is an unusual design that straddles the line between midrange and premium phones with its potent front-facing dual camera setup that outguns many flagship phones as well as its 100W fast charging support. Contrary to hearsay, the phone does support Google via the Lighthouse app. This combination of features makes it an ideal phone for vloggers though the garish green faux leather colourway is an acquired taste.

The Huawei Nova 11 and 11 Pro smartphones not only provide a great design but also provides the right specs for every aspect of OLED displays to exceptional cameras, there’s very little to complain about. Sure, the smartphones lack official IP rating or wireless charging, but you can’t expect that at these prices anyway, at least not for the Nova 11. However, Nova 11 Pro is quite a bit costlier than the Nova 11 non-pro and for that, we did expect the company to include either an official IP rating or wireless charger. Also, both devices lack support for 5G connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE smartphone seems like a better alternative. Not to mention, in many countries, Huawei smartphones may not be available. Though you get a decent set of specs, still there are better options available in the market at this price segment.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
