As we previously reported, Huawei is currently having a refresh of its tablets. Due on April 23, multiple sources have confirmed that two new tablets are set to be launched alongside the Nova 7 series. Called the MediaPad 10.4 and MatePad T8, the devices bear hardly any resemblance to each other.
Undoubtedly, the MediaPad 10.4 will be the more expensive of the two tablets. According to Chinese retailers, the MediaPad 10.4 will feature a Kirin 810 SoC, up to 6 GB of RAM and a 7,250 mAh battery. Starting at CNY 2,499 (~US$353) for the 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM model, the tablet's display will operate natively at 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. Huawei will offer the MediaPad 10.4 with 128 GB of storage and LTE, too.
Sporting Harman Kardon branding, the MediaPad 10.4 has been leaked in hands-on pictures, too. Overall, the MediaPad 10.4 has an iPad-esque design, in our opinion.
The same cannot be said for the MatePad T8, though. According to information provided by WinFuture, Huawei will equip the entry-level tablet with a MediaTek MTK8768 SoC, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB or 32 GB of storage. The device will have an 8-inch display as its name suggests, which will operate at 1,280 x 800 pixels. The T8 will have optional LTE too, but its design and specifications are very low-end. Pricing for the T8 is unknown, but we expect Huawei to release both tablets outside of China, albeit without Google Mobile Services (GMS).
