During MWC 2025, Honor has showcased the Earbuds Open, its latest take on open-ear audio. It features a 16mm toroidal multi-magnetic circuit driver and comes with several standout features, including AI-powered translation.

The Honor Earbuds Open is the company's open-ear earbuds offering, already available in various countries. However, Honor also highlighted it at MWC 2025.

Design and build

The design of the Earbuds Open is apparently inspired by the phases of the moon. The ear hook has a resemblance to a crescent moon, while the body is inspired by a full moon.

The open-ear design of the Honor Earbuds Open is said to be light and comfortable. Each earbud weighs 7.9 grams and features skin-friendly silicone for prolonged comfortable use. The charging case measures 80.44 × 61.02 × 20.45mm and weighs 52.5g (without buds).

The earbuds are supposed to have a secure fit thanks to a Nitinol shape memory alloy, which makes them suitable for demanding activities such as intense workouts.

The Honor Earbuds Open comes with an IP54 rating, meaning the product is resistant to dust and water splashes. There are two color options: Polar Gold and Polar Black.

Specifications and features

The Honor Earbuds Open feature a 16mm toroidal multi-magnetic circuit driver. Honor says this is a highly sensitive driver with extra-large amplitude and a high-elasticity TPU composite film sheet to enhance clarity. The earbuds also incorporate an industry-first Virtual Bass Algorithm, designed to optimize bass depth and richness. Additionally, the Spatial Audio feature aims to provide an immersive listening experience.

The Honor Earbuds Open incorporates Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) designed for open-ear use. Additionally, the buds feature Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) along with a triple microphone system to improve call clarity.

The buds also have a unique AI feature: AI Translation. It supports 15 languages and offers three modes:

  1. Shared Mode: This mode aids in real-time translations during conversations.
  2. Exclusive Mode: This is mainly for travelers who want the translation to be played via the phone speaker making it easier to communicate with locals.
  3. Simultaneous Interpretation: This mode is made for lectures and presentations, allowing listeners to hear real-time translations through the earbuds as the speaker talks.

According to the official website, the AI translation feature requires the Earbuds Open to be paired with the Honor Magic7 Pro or Magic7 RSR Porsche Edition after a software update. Additionally, the feature will be available for iOS and Android phones through the Honor AI Space app in the future.

Moving to the battery department, each earbud carries a 58mAh battery capacity.  Meanwhile, the charging case has a 480mAh capacity. Honor claims 6 hours of playback on a single charge and 22 hours of playback with the charging case. It also supports fast charging, enabling the earbuds to provide 2 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging.

The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. Additionally, the Earbuds Open support a "Find Earbuds" feature that emits a beep to locate misplaced earbuds.

Pricing

The Honor Earbuds Open is priced at €149, roughly translating to $154 USD. More information regarding the earbuds can be found on the official Honor website.
