Home Assistant releases app update with four new features for iOS

Home Assistant iOS app version 2026.5.0 is currently rolling out to users of the open source smart home automation software. The last release for Apple device users came in April 2026, with improvements for authentication certificates and a re-authentication flow for expired tokens.
With Home Assistant version 2026.5.0 for iOS, users of various iPhone and iPad models gain support for a barometer sensor. There is a new configuration tool for app icon shortcuts, as well as an “Assist prompt” for CarPlay Quick Access. Plus, a cloudhook connection check option has been added to the server settings.
According to the release notes for Home Assistant version 2026.5.0 (screenshot below), there are also improvements linked to CarPlay Assist, camera player gestures and mTLS certificate handling. On top of this, bugs related to speech-to-text voice commands, error messages and kiosk mode have also been fixed in this latest update.
You can now download Home Assistant version 2026.5.0 for iOS from the Apple App Store. According to the Android section of the official Home Assistant GitHub, version 2026.5.x releases for these users are currently in the pre-release phase.
