Revenge of the Savage Planet, a wacky co-op 3D platformer game with split-screen co-op and very positive Steam reviews has received its first ever Steam Sale discount a mere two months after launch, and the discount has slashed a whopping 50% off the game's original price.

Valve has officially kicked off the Steam Summer Sale, delivering sizeable discounts on hundreds of PC games, from AAA hits to indie masterpieces. One of the games included in the Steam Summer Sale is Revenge of the Savage Planet, which is discounted by 50% to just $14.99 until July 10.

What makes the Steam discount on Revenge of the Savage Planet special is that the RPG platformer only launched in early May. As little as two weeks after the launch, the developer announced that it had already amassed over 1 million players.

Revenge of the Savage Planet gameplay highlights and reviews

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a light-hearted co-op platformer that packs plenty of sarcasm and wit in a colourful package. The premise of the game is that you've been abandoned on an alien planet and you need to survive, explore, research, craft, and eventually find your way home to take revenge on your corporate overlords that abandoned you for profit.

Revenge of the Savage Planet features a number of unique planets, each with their own fauna, flora, and  plenty of fun platforming and exploration, and the general aesthetic lends itself to the whimsical gameplay. While it offers plenty of exploration, puzzles, and general crafting and survival mechanics, Revenge of the Savage Planet never really takes itself too seriously — a fact that is generally appreciated by its audience.

At the time of writing, Revenge of the Savage Planet has an 82% "Very Positive" review rating on Steam, and the majority of the reviews praise the game for its lightheartedness and plentiful humour, with the co-op and split-screen gameplay also often called out as a break from the fast-paced, often quite serious, games that we are used to in the modern gaming landscape. Racoon Logic, the studio behind Revenge of the Savage Planet, also receives a lot of praise in the reviews for the game's level of polish and for the easy-to-follow storytelling.

Revenge of the Savage Planet currently holds a Gold compatibility rating on ProtonDB, meaning it should work nearly flawlessly on the Valve Steam Deck, and many users have reported getting good frame rates on the Steam Deck, meaning it should run quite well on gaming handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go (curr. $499.99 on Amazon), even when running SteamOS.
