At the end of September, notorious leakster @LlabTooFeR unveiled a list of HTC handsets that were expected to get Android 6.0 Lollipop. Since the list contained only mainstream and high-end devices, finding the HTC One M8 on it was no surprise. Now, it looks like the Marshmallow update for the One M8 Google Play Edition just got much closer.
According to Mo Versi, HTC aims to deliver the new firmware for it by the end of this month. "M8 GPE will include Marshmallow OS update. Our target is this month. Will advise once we are close to release," wrote in a Twitter message last week HTC's Vice President of Product Management.
Next to the One M8, the list of HTC devices to get Android 6.0 mentioned earlier also included the One M8 Eye, One M9, Desire 816, One E9+, Butterfly 2 and 3, as well as others. The official announcement of the updates should come out soon, so stay tuned.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
