The HP ProBook 650 G2 is a solid performer, with a battery that will last a full workday. Unfortunately, its screen, though very bright, isn’t terribly vivid, and its keys tended to stick a bit when I typed.

The HP ProBook 650 G2 is a solid performer, with a battery that will last a full workday. Unfortunately, its screen, though very bright, isn't terribly vivid, and its keys tended to stick a bit when I typed. For even better battery life, similar performance and an excellent keyboard, consider the Lenovo ThinkPad T560.

Disappointing screen. HP's mid-range business laptop pleases with decent input devices, solid casing, good battery life, and low system noise - unlike the Full HD panel that is a disappointment. We expect considerably more from a 1050 Euro (~$1179) laptop.

Stingy in features. The ProBook delivers good input devices, long battery runtimes, and a low system noise. The display will not win any prizes: HP incorporated a low-contrast model with narrow viewing angles.

Plastic Pro. The whole notebook market has been reconfigured to ultrabook designs. Wait, is it really the whole notebook market? No, since there are still representatives of a more traditional design such as the HP ProBook 650 G4. Another business notebook has passed through our office. After a thorough test (although we didn’t need more than a second to figure this out), we deduced that this machine sits between the ProBook 400 series and the EliteBook 800 series. Unlike the latter, it lacks Thunderbolt connection, but honestly, the I/O is wide enough for professional work. Thankfully, although the USB Type-C port lacks Thunderbolt certification, it has a 10Gbps speed and offers a DisplayPort signal and Power Delivery in addition to the mandatory data transfer.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4600:
Integrated processor graphics card found on a number of Haswell CPU models. Offers varying clock speeds depending on the CPU.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
Intel HD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2) found on some Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 80 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Intel Core i5:
4200M: Haswell-based dual-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.1 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
6200U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6600U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i5-7200U: Kaby-Lake based SoC with two CPU cores clocked at 2.5 to 3.1 GHz, HyperThreading and manufactured with an improved 14nm process.
Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:
i5-8250U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,100 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.
Intel Tiger Lake:
i5-1135G7: A quad-core, mid-range processor of Tiger Lake product family designed for use in ultra-light laptops. The i5 is manufactured on Intel's second-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin and features an 80 EU Iris Xe G7 iGPU. Core i5-1135G7 has a base clock speed of 2.4 GHz as long as it is allowed to consume 28 watts.

79.81%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
