Information about HP laptops with AMD Barcelo-U processors leaked back in November and today, at CES 2022, we have the very same devices getting an official launch. Apart from the Pro x360 435 G9, HP is also introducing two clamshell variants — the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9.
Both the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 sport similar specifications with the primary difference being with respect to the displays. The ProBook 445 G9 features a 14-inch 16:9 display that ranges in choices from HD TN 250-nit panels to FHD IPS 1000-nit panels with 100% sRGB coverage. The 1000-nit option also offers HP SureView Reflect and HP Eye Ease for added privacy and low blue light emissions, respectively.
The ProBook 455 G9, on the other hand, offers a 15.6-inch display but with options only up to 400 nits brightness. Both the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 also offer touch display options but only with a 250-nit brightness.
Both these laptops are powered by AMD's latest 15 W Barcelo-U chips, dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory up to 32 GB, NVMe SSD options up to 1 TB. The ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 can also be optionally configured with Intel XMM 7560 R+ LTE WWAN for mobile connectivity.
A 3-cell 42.75 Whr or 51.3 Whr battery (depending on the SKU) powers the internals. The battery can be topped up to 50% within 30 minutes via HP Fast Charge. The ProBook 405 Series G9 focuses a lot on security considering its likely use case in hybrid work environments. Buyers can configure the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 with an optional IR camera or a fingerprint scanner and security can be further hardened via HP Wolf Security for Business.
The laptops are said to have passed MIL-STD 810H standards for increased durability. The HP ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 will be available from late January at prices starting from US$849.
