HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9 and ProBook Fortis 14 G10 are built to withstand the vagaries of schooling
HP is introducing a new Fortis lineup of laptops primarily aimed at school goers. HP said that the Fortis lineup is designed to withstand stress from repeated opening and closing of the hinge, drops, spills, and constant plugging and unplugging of the charger.
According to HP, Fortis laptops come with several features for enhanced durability. These include:
- Textured surfaces to hide fingerprints and minor dirt
- Reinforced power and USB ports
- Reinforced corners with rubber trims to absorb shocks
- Durable keyboard with fidget-proof keys and up to 350 ml spill resistance
- Metal shield to protect the battery from swelling
- Sanitizable chassis and keyboard
- 19 MIL-STD-810H tests
The first of the Fortis devices include the ProBook Fortis 14 G9 and G10. Both offer similar specifications with the primary differences being with respect to the processor and available networking options.
The ProBook Fortis 14 G9 comes with a choice of Celeron and Pentium processors and up to 8 GB of DDR4-3200 soldered memory. 64 GB of eMMC memory is available onboard along with PCIe NVMe options up to 256 GB. Buyers have a choice of getting the Fortis 14 G9 with Windows 11 SE preloaded.
The ProBook Fortis 14 G10, on the other hand, can offer processor options such as the Intel 12th gen Alder Lake Core i3 and Core i5.
The ProBook Fortis 14 G9 offers 4G LTE WWAN connectivity along with Wi-Fi 6 while the Fortis 14 G10 offers a Wi-Fi 6E but forgoes LTE. HP offers Windows 11 Pro or Windows 11 Pro Education with the Fortis 14 G10.
The rest of the specifications including the 14-inch HD and FHD display options, port selection, battery capacity, and durability are same across both the ProBook Fortis 14 G9 and Fortis 14 G10.
The HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9 is available starting from US$369. The variant with Windows 11 SE will be available from April and pricing will be revealed closer to availability.
