Participant. HP jumps on the bandwagon of handy Windows convertibles and builds one at an affordable price for the average consumer. Does the glossy design of the current Pavilions meet our taste? Do the wider diagonal, the second battery and the Bay Trail Pentium justify the rather high price?

Beautiful design, low performance. Thanks to its 360-degree hinges, the HP Pavilion x360 can function as a laptop or a tablet -- in other words, a convertible PC. That sounds very practical, but in our tests we encountered several weaknesses.

HP Pavilion 11t-n000 x360
Most convertible hybrid laptops are averagely priced at a premium, the HP Pavilion 11t-n000 x360 is a much more affordable convertible hybrid for budget conscious users. Like other convertibles, you can flip its touchscreen and there are four modes of use; notebook mode, stand mode, tent mode and tablet mode.
The laptop weighs in at a comfortable 3.2 pounds (1.45 kg) and only 0.86 inch (2.18 cm) thick. Good enough to fit in most backpacks. The 11.6 inch 10-point touchscreen has a 1366 by 768 resolution, which is pretty standard in laptops of these prices. The device is powered by a quad-core Intel Pentium N3520, one of the main reasons why it's so affordable. It's coupled with Intel HD graphics, a 500 GB HDD and 4 GB of RAM.
The performance won't blow its competition out of the water, but for the price, these are pretty decent specs and you would not have any problems to run most of your desired software. Although it's an entry-level budget device, the processor is actually 64-bit, which will affect multimedia playback.
As with most HP laptops, it comes with Beats audio for enhanced audio. It features an Ethernet port, which is rare these days and makes up for the lower-end 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. The HP Pavilion 11t-n000 x360 is good for anyone looking at a lower end, budget friendly hybrid device.

The HP Pavilion x360 and Lenovo Yoga 2. Both are 11-inch convertible Windows PCs with a 360-degree hinge design, meaning that you can fold the keyboard back under the display to use it as a tablet. The Pavilion x360 starts at $400, and the Yoga 2 starts at $489. If you’re in the market for a new laptop, and like the idea of hybrid design, the Lenovo Yoga 2 is a good choice. It’s a little more expensive than the HP Pavilion x360, but you’ll get more for the money.

The benchmarks indicate that solid-state storage contributes more to performance than the availability of an additional 2GB of memory (the Atom Z3770 in the Venue 11 Pro can address only 2GB of memory, where the x360’s Pentium N3520 can deal with up to 8GB). My general feeling from using various Atom tablets and then trying both the Yoga 2 11 and the Pavillion x360 are similar: The limited memory in the Atom products impacted my ability to play some games, such as The Sims 3, but the performance slowdowns stemming from mechanical hard drives in the aforementioned hybrids were much more pervasive.

It's really too bad the HP Pavilion x360 suffers from poor battery life because it brings a lot to the budget hybrid table—good looks, solid build quality, a comfortable keyboard and touch pad, and impressive audio output. We prefer the Pavilion x360's keyboard, but we'd happily clack away for an extra two hours on the Yoga 2 11, and it's the latter machine that keeps our Editor's Choice honors.

For less than $400, the HP Pavilion x360 ($484 as reviewed) provides a solid Windows 8.1 experience, complete with a flexible multimode design, loud speakers and a responsive keyboard. However, the notebook's dim 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 display is underwhelming, as is its short battery life.

The HP Pavilion 11t-n000 x360 is a tempting alternative to the Lenovo Yoga line of convertible hybrid laptops. However, the Editors' Choice Asus T100TA has significantly longer battery life and is much lighter in Tablet mode, as it detaches from the keyboard, making it a better choice for the road warrior. The Pavilion x360 is a convertible hybrid laptop system for the user who needs a slate tablet experience from time to time, but can't bear to leave their keyboard at home.

HP Pavilion 11-N000eo X360
The HP Pavilion 11-N000eo X360 belongs to the Pavillion 11 series and is a hybrid notebook and tablet. The Pavilion X360 has an attractive red or silver lid and base. It feels sturdy to hold and has an adjustable hinge that allows users to turn it 360 for various modes. The 10 point touch screen allows the Pavilion X360 to work well in notebook mode, stand mode (keyboard face down on the table), tent more (central hinge facing the sky) and tablet mode.
The Pavilion X360 weighs around 1.4 kg, is 11 inches as the name suggests and only 2.2 cm thick. Its display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 is disappointing because of dim colors and sub-par lighting. The hybrid features a quad core Intel Pentium with HD graphics and 4 GB of RAM. So, it can run basic software without an issue but not much else.
The Pavilion X360 boasts a Beats sound system, but performs only decently. In addition, the keyboard does not feel too comfortable to use. Since only undemanding programs run on this laptop, its energy demand is low. So, there will not be heating or noise issues.
Its battery only lasts up to six hours. So, the X360 cannot compete with other hybrid laptops like the Lenovo Yoga 2 or Asus T100TA, which last seven hours and twelve hours respectively.

Basically this is a laptop device that is decked out in eye-catching red livery and is definitely not a product that will easily be overlooked. Is it a laptop? Or is it a tablet? In fact the Pavilion 11 x360 PC is a hybrid as it combines the look, feel and functionality of a laptop with that of a tablet through its screen capability to swivel through 360 degrees, hence the x360 part of the product’s title.

When it comes to browsing just a couple of websites at a time, writing email, producing documents and playing casual games, the x360 provides a smooth user experience. The laptop has 4GB of RAM and a generous 500GB hard disk, which gives you loads of space for all the media you'll want to take around with you. At £349, the x360 is much cheaper than most lightweight laptops and looks great. However, although it looks dull by comparison, the Budget Buy-winning Acer Travelmate B113-M is £50 cheaper and much more powerful; if you're not fussed about a touchscreen, the B113 is a better choice for a low-cost laptop.

On the one hand, HP has nailed some of the aspects of design, bringing out one of the better portable keyboards for a machine under $600, with a design that looks cool, unique, and won’t pick on fingerprints as easily. But then there’s that performance, with plenty of lag and slowdowns to go around, so much so that unless all you do is write text and check email or surf the web, you’ll find yourself annoyed and a touch concerned.

The HP Pavilion 11 is a silver colored 2-in-1 device, which can be used in tablet mode and laptop mode. Its hardware is fairly basic. The Intel Core M dual core processor is combined with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5300 is used for graphics. This is sufficient as this device is not meant for hardcore gaming. The 500 GB hard drive is sufficient for storing several presentation applications and multimedia content. The 11.6 inch touchscreen features a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The operating system is Windows 8.1, which is an excellent companion for touchscreen devices. They weight is just 1.4 kg and the maximum thickness with closed lid is 2.19 cm. Thus the device can be easily carried around. There are two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port and a multimedia card reader. The 2-cell battery should last at least 4 hours while on the go. Finally, this 2-in-1 device is an excellent device for everyday use as it is portable and offers several modes.Specifications

We actually took a look at the Pavilion x360 last year and came away unimpressed. At the time it was powered by a Celeron processor and equipped with a terrible TN panel. What a difference a year makes. The HP Pavilion x360 11T Touch Select is by no means a perfect laptop—it could use a better trackpad, better keyboard, and ditch the rotating hinges gimmick altogether in favor of a better processor or slightly larger SSD.

HP has delivered a cheap 2-in-1 that's fast enough to be your primary PC. However, the hot-running underside and not-so-hot colors on the display prevent this hybrid from being an Editors' Choice.

The Pavilion x360 11 is HP’s smallest convertible notebook. It quickly converts into a tablet by virtue of its 360 degree display hinge – simply fold the display back until it’s flush against the underside of the notebook. The x360 11 has sturdy build quality, a comfortable full-size keyboard, good speakers, and plenty of ports. Its limited viewing angle display has average image quality at best, however; its performance leaves much to be desired; and it’s relatively thick and heavy for a notebook this size, let alone a tablet. Its biggest worry, however, is its mediocre battery life. It overall didn’t impress enough to warrant a full recommendation at its asking price, but it could be a good second computer provided you can find it for less.
