Grab an ultra-compact, passively cooled and Core i7-powered mini-computer for under US$350
In the era of the home office, a mini-computer could be just the ticket to transform a cramped desk or space into something more spacious. While there are many mini computers already on the market, the Partaker B16 caught our eye because of its quad-core processors and fanless design.
Coming in at 22.5 x 18.5 x 4.8 cm, the B16 will take up hardly any space. With the whole chassis acting as a glorified heatsink, the B16 will remain silent too. Currently sold on AliExpress, Gearbest and Amazon, the B16 can be equipped with either a Core i5-8250U or a Core i7-8550U. Partaker also sells the B13, a slightly different and cheaper unit that comes with a Core i5-7260U or Core i7-7560U.
Complementing the 15 W CPUs of the B16 is up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB M.2 SSD. Sadly, this is the slower SATA III variant, but there is also a SATA III 2.5-inch drive bay for adding additional storage.
Also onboard are HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA ports for image output, along with Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. Additionally, there are four USB 2.0 Type-A ports and four USB 3.0 Type-A ports.
Currently, the Partaker B16 starts at US$269.50 on AliExpress for the Core i5-8250U model without RAM or storage. The Core i7-8550U model, meanwhile, starts at US$337.26, with prices rising to US$682.50 on Gearbest for 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. By contrast, the Core i5-8250U model tops out at US$614.64 with the same RAM and storage capacities. If you do not need four cores, then you could save some money by purchasing the B13, instead. All models come with Windows 10 pre-loaded.
