The Pixel 9a is already a great value at its original $500 price, and its even more tempting now that it has crashed to its lowest price yet at both Best Buy and Amazon. If you're still rocking a Pixel 4a or 5a, now might be the perfect time to make the jump.

Google’s Pixel A lineup has always been about delivering great value at a great price, and this year’s Pixel 9a does exactly that, bringing many of the best features of the flagship Pixel 9 down to a very reasonable price of $499. But for a limited time, you can grab this excellent mid-ranger for even cheaper.

Both Best Buy and Amazon have slashed the price of the unlocked Pixel 9a by $100, which brings the base model down to just $399. It beats the previous all-time low we saw last month by a good $25, when Amazon had it on sale for $424. All four colorways—Obsidian, Iris, Peony, and Porcelain—are on sale and in stock as of writing this. For those who want more storage, the 256GB variant is also discounted by $100 and can be had for $499

If you’ve been in search of a compact phone that doesn’t compromise on essentials—camera, performance, battery—and also boasts a long software promise, you won’t find a better contender than the Pixel 9a. It’s powered by the same Tensor G4 chipset found in the more expensive Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, though 8GB RAM and a less sophisticated cooling system mean the chipset struggles to sustain its peak performance under heavy load. As we noted in our review, the phone’s everyday performance is pretty smooth, and games like PUBG also run fine—Just don’t expect flagship-level flawlessness. We also praised the Pixel 9a’s upgraded dual-camera system, which produces fantastic photos in good lighting conditions. And its 5,100mAh battery is even larger than the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Top that with Google's seven years of guaranteed software support, a clean Android experience, and Google’s thoughtful AI features, and the Pixel 9a is easily the best bargain phone under $500.
