Google Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro may trade performance gains for longer battery life and improved thermals
The Google Pixel 9 (curr. $749 on Amazon) and the rest of the Pixel 9 series will be around for a while yet, having been presented over the summer. Nonetheless, leaker Kamila Wojciechowska continues to focus on what Google has planned for next year and beyond.
For context, the leaker recently shared details about the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series, along with their accompanying Tensor G5 and Tensor G6 chipsets. On top of that, Wojciechowska revealed various AI features that Google will launch alongside its future flagships too.
Reportedly, Google plans to change tack slightly with its Tensor G6 chipset. According to Wojciechowska, Google will adopt TSMC's N3P nodes for the Tensor G6 to achieve a smaller die size than the Tensor G4 or Tensor G5.
Moreover, the Tensor G6 is said to adopt six ARM Cortex-X730 CPU cores and a Cortex-X930 prime core. Thus, Wojciechowska expects Google to move away from the three-cluster approaches of other Tensor chipsets.
Furthermore, the leaker believes that Google will use a 3-core IMG CXT GPU originally destined for the Tensor G4 and less system cache to improve battery life while also reducing excess heat generation. Overall, it seems that Google continues to plough its own furrow, for better or worse.
