Lighting equipment specialist Godox has unveiled three new flashes designed to be highly compact and affordable. The largest of the three products, the Godox iA32, stands out especially with a built-in reflector that is adjustable using a knob on the side, letting users aim the flash upwards to create indirect lighting.
All three flashes connect electronically to a camera using just a single pin, meaning they are compatible with virtually all cameras with a hot shoe but lack support for TTL and HSS features. In addition to having manually adjustable flash power, the iA32 allows users to enter the ISO and aperture size to get a recommended brightness setting. The flash unit is powered by two AA batteries and can provide about 490 flashes at full power before requiring a battery change.
The Godox iM20 and iM22 are much smaller and cheaper by comparison. However, they lack the rotatable reflector and auto mode found on the iA32, and only support five manually adjustable flash levels. Their integrated 470 mAh battery can provide roughly 440 flashes at full power and takes around 70 minutes to fully recharge via USB-C. The iM20 and iM22 weigh just 31 g (1.1 oz) and 34 g (1.2 oz), respectively.
Price and availability
The Godox iA32 will set you back $49.90 in the US, whereas the iM20 and iM22 are priced at $33.90 each. At the time of this article, there is still no information about their pricing and availability in Europe, but new Godox products usually arrive on the company’s official Europe online shop within a few weeks.
