Gigabyte updates affordable Sabre 15 and 17 gaming notebooks
It seems Gigabyte is aiming to make a gaming notebook for almost every market segment from the high-end Aorus and Aero 15 down to the extremely affordable Sabre series. At Computex, the Taiwanese company showed off its updates to both the 15 and 17-inch Sabre models, as well as a new Sabre Pro 15.
The 15 and 17-inch Sabre laptops feature Nvidia GTX 1050 (or Ti) GPUs, Kaby Lake quad-core i7-7700HQ CPUs, and FHD IPS displays at a hard-to-beat price. The 15-inch Sabre with a GTX 1050 Ti, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, and 16GB of RAM will sell for only US$1199. It's a competitive price given that the display is IPS and the keyboard is RGB-configurable — features that its likely competitors from Dell and Lenovo lack on their cheaper models. The new Sabre Pro 15 steps up from the capable GTX 1050 Ti to a GTX 1060 and replaces the sturdy plastic lid with a more premium-feeling aluminum one.
There is no word on pricing for the Sabre 17 or Sabre Pro 15 yet, however, the company has announced that the new laptops should be available in June.
