Reviews for the Gigabyte Aero X16 1WH
A couple of weeks after the two mobile GPUs GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop & GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop, Nvidia releases the next two mobile Blackwell chips. We review the new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop and the RTX 5070 Laptop.
The Gigabyte Aero X16 is a slim 16-inch gaming laptop featuring the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 Krackan Point APU. The Aero X16's comes equipped with a matte QHD+ 165 Hz IPS that is well suited for gaming. The RAM can be expanded further, adding further value. We take a look at what the Aero X16 is capable of in this review.

Well, well, well, how do we sum all this up then? In the grand scheme of things, the Aero X16 isn't going to win many accolades here. It's certainly not going to make our best gaming laptop list. It's just not. The crippling effect of that 85 W TGP is rather astonishing. The fact that it can't even keep up with Gigabyte's own cheaper models with lesser GPUs is not exactly ideal, particularly as it's such a key selling point. Now, yes, there is a more modern CPU here, optimized for AI of course (although really comparing those NPUs to a dedicated GPU on AI performance is like sewing with a broken needle: pointless), and yes, there's a higher-resolution screen here too, but is that really enough to justify the absolute confusion ensuing from this cacophony of TGP nonsense? I'm not so sure.

Overall, the AERO X16 delivers on its promise of being a thin, powerful, and versatile laptop that appeals to both professionals and gamers. While it isn’t perfect, its strengths in build quality, CPU performance, and connectivity outweigh the drawbacks. For users who prioritize portability without giving up strong multi-core processing and respectable graphics performance, the GIGABYTE AERO X16 stands out as a compelling choice in its category.

So, if you’re looking for a thin and light laptop, this Gigabyte Aero X16 should be on your list. This laptop is priced at RM7,299 and again, you’re getting an amazing screen, great performance with the AMD Ryzen 7 AI 350 with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU alongside 16GB RAM, while having a decent battery life and great aesthetics to match. There is another variant at only RM6,199, which has the exact same specs except that the GPU has been swapped out for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060. Both variants are great, but it essentially depends on what kind of specs you want.

Gigabyte’s Aero X16 is one of the lightest and coolest 16” gaming laptops we’ve tested, but its stealthy look comes at the cost of limited RTX 5070 performance. We ran our full gaming benchmark suite to find out what it’s really capable of.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop: An upcoming graphics card from the Blackwell family for laptops, which Team Green will most likely present at CES 2025. Considering that the 4070 laptop has 4,608 unified shaders (CUDA cores), the 5070 will most likely have well over 5,000 shaders.
These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.

Ryzen AI 7 350: A relatively powerful Krackan Point family processor that was introduced in early 2025. The APU integrates 8 CPU cores (4 Zen 5 cores with up to 5 GHz and 4 Zen 5c cores with up to 3.5 GHz).» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
