Get spooked this Halloween with Halloween sales, courtesy of GOG and Steam

GOG and Steam are both getting into the Halloween spirit with sales going on this week. Steam's sale is centered around spooky/horror games, while GOG's is more of a general catch-all. There are some decent discounts to be had, so head over to Steam before November 1 and GOG before November 5 to catch the sales.

Halloween is a time for many to troll their neighborhoods, ringing doorbells and asking for candy. But if you’d rather lock the door and fire up some spooky games, Steam has a sale going on right now for Halloween.

Some of the top sellers include Left 4 Dead 2 for $1.99 (80% off), 7 Days to Die for $8.99 (67% off), and Crypt of the NecroDancer for $2.99 (80% off). There are some new titles as well, like Shadow of the Tomb Raider for $39.59 (34% off), We Happy Few for $44.99 (25% off), and Hello Neighbor for $19.49 (35% off).

GOG is also offering a “Trick or Treat” sale with a few unique titles marked down. Some notable discounts include Firewatch for $7.99 (60% off) and Cuphead for $15.99 (20% off). Plus, GOG sells games without any kind of DRM, so once you buy the game, it’s yours to play, even without an online connection.

Steam’s sale runs from October 29th through November 1st, so you’ll have until the dawn breaks on All Saints Day to capture some scary good savings. GOG will be running their sale until November 5th. Dad joke-tier puns aside, there are some good deals at Steam and GOG, so be sure to head over and check out their titles on offer if you need to pad your games library. At the very least, you can pick up a few titles to keep you occupied until Christmas sales start up.

I've been a "tech-head" my entire life. After graduating college with a degree in Mathematics, I worked in finance and banking a few years before taking a job as a Systems Analyst for my local school district. I started working with Notebookcheck in October of 2016 and have enjoyed writing news articles and notebook reviews. My areas of interest include the business side of technology, retro gaming, Linux, and innovative gadgets. When I'm not hunched over an electronic device or writing code for a new database, I'm either outside with my family, playing a decade-old video game, or sitting behind a drum set.
