Garmin has introduced new beta updates for the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S, a month on from the release of a substantial stable update. While the latter arrived as software version 9.23, Garmin has moved its Beta Program onto Beta version 9.27, having also introduced Beta version 9.25 recently. Seemingly, critical issues caused Garmin to issue Beta version 9.27, as its predecessor was considered a Release Candidate.
Conversely, nothing has followed since the launch of Beta version 9.27. Hence, we imagine that this is the Instinct 2 series' next public update too. Unfortunately, Garmin has not confirmed when the update will reach stable status. Presumably, the company will start rolling out version 9.27 to all eligible Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S models within the next few weeks, though.
Surprisingly, there are only two changes between version 9.23 and Beta version 9.27. Specifically, Beta version 9.25 fixed an issue where the Instinct 2 or Instinct 2S would lose sleep data after manually ending sleep. By contrast, the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S should no longer present incorrect race prediction times with Beta version 9.27 installed. As always, both beta updates can be installed through GCM. Typically, GCM should check for new updates daily, but it could take several hours for an update to be ready to install on your smartwatch once GCM has grabbed it.
