Khadas is on the verge of launching the Edge2, a single-board computer (SBC) that should be available from tomorrow. According to the manufacturer, the SBC relies on the Rockchip RK3588S, a chipset that features two CPU clusters with four ARM Cortex-A76 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.25 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively. Additionally, the Rockchip RK3588S has a Mali-G610 MC4 GPU and an NPU that can deliver up to 6 TOPS of performance.
As CNX Software's images show, the Khadas Edge2 has two USB Type-A ports (USB 3.1/USB 2.0), two USB 3.1 Type-C ports and an HDMI 2.1 port, along with the following connectors and expansion capabilities:
- 1x 30-pin 4-lane MIPI DSI (4K/60Hz)
- 1x 40-pin 4-lane MIPI DSI (4K/60Hz)
- 3x 4-lane MIPI CSI
- 2x 30-pin IO connectors
- CPU signals: I2C, UART, SPI, SDMMC, I2S, ADC, PWM, USB
- MCU signals: SWDIO, SWCLK, UART
- 7x pogo pads with USB, UART, 5V, GND
- 1x 4-pin PWM fan header
- 1x KXTJ3-1057 3-axis accelerometer
- 1x 3V RTC battery
- 1x 2x RGB LEDs
- 3x physical buttons
Moreover, all Khadas Edge2 configurations will weigh 25 g and will measure 82 x 57.5 x 5.7 mm, or 11 mm with its bundled heatsink and fan. Separately, CNX Software reports that the Edge2 will launch with Android 12 and Ubuntu 22.04 support, as well as Android 11 images with Linux 5.10. Pricing will be confirmed during tomorrow's launch, but there will be two models, the Edge2 Basic and Edge2 Pro. So far, Khadas has outlined that the Edge2 Basic will come with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 32 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage. In comparison, Khadas will offer the Edge2 Pro with 16 GB of RAM and 64 GB of the same storage type.
