LilyGO is now selling the TTGO T4, a cheaper and smaller option to the TTGO T5 that the company already offers in multiple countries. Specifically, the TTGO T4 is available with a 2.2-inch or a 2.4-inch display that relies on the ILI9341 SPI display controller. Additionally, the single-board computer (SBC) has an Espressif Systems microcontroller based on ESP32 with a dual-core Tensilica LX6 microprocessor.
Moreover, LilyGO equips the TTGO T4 with 8 MB of SPRAM, 4 MB SPI NOR flash and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Separately, the SBC offers Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 4 connectivity and has a micro USB port for charging, debugging, programming and power. Furthermore, LilyGO includes a 20-pin header and buttons for booting and resetting the SBC. Likewise, there are three configurable buttons, should you need these.
Currently, the 65 x 43 x 12 mm board is orderable on AliExpress in 2.2-inch and 2.4-inch variants for US$29.98 and US$26.98, respectively. LilyGO states that the TTGO T4 is compatible with Arduino and MicroPython programming languages, although it has provided Arduino IDE, Button2 and TFT_eSPI libraries so far. You can read more details about the TTGO T4 and its programming capabilities on a corresponding GitHub post.
