In the last few weeks, Garmin has been testing plenty of new features across its smartwatch portfolio through public alpha and beta builds. Now, the company has announced in a press release that it begun rolling out these features in a new stable build for Epix 2, Fenix 7, Forerunner 945 and Instinct 2 series smartwatches. According to the same press release, the Forerunner 945 series will receive the August 2022 update soon, as well the Edge 1040 series of cycling computers.
Firstly, the company has added SatIQ, which allows you to switch to multi-band GPS when needed for improved positioning automatically. For example, enabling SatIQ would be suitable if you are in built-up areas with tall buildings. Alternatively, SatIQ would be best used when trekking through narrow canyons, or anywhere where obstacles could weaken standard GPS positioning.
Also, the August update enables Heart rate variability (HRV), a feature that your smartwatch will detect during sleep following this month's update. Hence, eligible Garmin smartwatches should soon provide a complete picture of recovery times. Similarly, Garmin has added 'Morning Report', which will provide workout recommendations, weather forecasts and a summary of your night's sleep quality. Incidentally, Garmin allows people to customise the information displayed.
Moreover, the August update enables a race widget that should show race prep information, weather and a countdown clock in a single widget. Furthermore, this month's update adds improved training status functionality, as well as the stock app, which provides information on up to 50 stock prices throughout the day.
