Galaxy S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra owners report severe battery drain and overheating issues after July update

Samsung's latest update was supposed to improve the overall experience for Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra users. However, it seems the update has done the opposite for some people. Over the past few days, a growing number of users have reported major battery drain after installing the latest July security patch.

One Galaxy S25 Ultra owner on the Samsung Community forum said the problem started immediately after installing the July security patch. Before updating, they claimed their phone's battery life was completely normal. After the update, however, the battery reportedly dropped from around 85% at midnight to almost 5% by midday, despite only recording around two hours of screen-on time. They also claimed the phone is now losing around 5% to 7% battery every hour while sitting idle, something that wasn't happening before the update.

In a separate post on the Samsung Community forum, a Galaxy S24 Ultra owner shared that they started seeing similar battery problems after installing the July update. According to their post, the phone previously lasted an entire day on a single charge, but battery life has become noticeably worse since updating.

Several other users replied in the same discussion threads and created separate posts confirming they are experiencing similar problems. Along with faster battery drain, many also reported that their phones are running much hotter than usual. Some users even mentioned that charging speeds have slowed down, and no matter what they do, the problem isn’t going away. 

At the moment, Samsung has not released an official statement acknowledging the reports or confirmed whether a fix is on the way. Until then, affected users will likely need to wait for a future software update and hope it addresses the issues introduced by the July patch.
