Fujifilm unveils Instax Pal 2 digital camera and Instax Link Wide 2 instant photo printer

Fujifilm has expanded its Instax line with the Pal 2 digital camera and Link Wide 2 instant photo printer. The petite camera comes with analog vibes and a slew of image effects while the battery-powered photo printer can output instant photos from the Pal 2 and smartphone images.
Instax Pal 2 retro-style digital camera
The Instax Pal 2 camera uses a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor with a f/2.2 28mm lens to capture 3,776 × 2,832-pixel (10 MP) or 1,280 × 960 pixel (1 MP) images onto microSD cards (up to 2 TB). Focus is set by autofocus, with optional face detection, from 8 cm (3.1 in.) to infinity.
The camera has an automatic shooting sensitivity of ISO 100 to 1600, an automatic shutter speed from 1/4 sec to 1/8000 sec, and 256-zone automatic exposure. Users can adjust the exposure from -2 EV to +2 EV in 1/3 EV steps. The Pal 2 also has a 1.3-inch LCD monitor with 170,000 dots, an optical viewfinder, a built-in flash, and a self-timer.
The Pal 2 has a retro design in black or white, with a physical shutter button, command dial, and level similar to 35mm film cameras from decades ago. Up to 30 image effects such as vintage camera looks can be selected in the companion smartphone app, then installed into the camera for use. Each photo can also be framed to fit a Square, Mini, or Wide Instax photo when printed.
Photos can be transferred to a smartphone using the camera's built-in USB-C connector or Bluetooth 5.3 connection. The wireless connection can be used to print digital photos to a compatible Instax photo printer, such as the new Link Wide 2.
The 87 g (3.07 oz.) camera measures 37.0 × 42.0 × 92.3 mm (1.46 x 1.65 x 3.63 in.). It has a rated runtime of up to three hours, says Fujifilm. It comes in Duo Beige and Duo Blue colors.
Instax Link Wide 2 instant mobile photo printer
The Link Wide 2 printer is designed to print digital images from Instax digital cameras and smartphones onto color and monochrome Instax Wide films. The film measures 108 x 86 mm (4.25 x 3.39 in.), with an image area of 99 x 62 mm (3.90 x 2.44 in.). Images printed onto the film take about 90 seconds to develop, depending on temperature.
Smartphones and compatible Instax cameras can print to the Link Wide 2 over a Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connection. The printer uses an OLED imager to expose digital photos onto the Wide film at 318 dpi.
The smartphone app comes with the ability to crop subjects and combine images to create collages with text for printing. The 357 g (12.59 oz.) printer measures 139.9 × 128.3 × 36.0 mm (5.51 x 5.05 x 1.42 in.). It can print up to 100 photos between recharges, according to the company.
