Fujifilm's upcoming X-E5 has been leaked more than a couple of times leading up to its launch date, with the most recent leaks suggesting a June 12 announcement and specifications to match the X100VI. Previously, Fujifilm more or less confirmed that announcement date, and its latest social media teaser shows off the existing retro rangefinder-style cameras — the X100VI and X-Pro series — and touts "another rangefinder-style series," leading speculators to believe that the June 12 X Summit will indeed see the launch of the much-awaited X-E5.
Latest Fujifilm X-E5 leaks may hold exciting news for fans
There have already been a number of leaks concerning the existence of a film simulation dial on the Fujifilm X-E5, with recent leaks out of Fuji Rumors claiming that the X-E5's film simulation dial wouldn't replace any of the existing dials — exposure compensation and shutter speed are present on the X-E4, so they will likely make a return. Additionally, more recent leaks from the prolific leaker also state that the new compact APS-C camera will feature a redesigned film simulation dial, rather than the same one found on the X-M5 and X-T50 (curr. $1,399 on Amazon).
Since Fujifilm launched the film simulation dial on the X-T50, there has been a lot of hub-bub about it, but one of the common complaints in online discussions about it pertained to its lack of customisation. Some users went so far as to suggest that Fujifilm didn't understand why its users like its film simulations to begin with if the camera maker didn't plan on allowing more custom film recipes to be loaded onto the dial. While the specifics of the new film simulation dial redesign are unclear, Fuji Rumors says it will be an "evolution" of the existing one, suggesting that Fujifilm will keep the general idea but tweak it slightly, perhaps taking user feedback into account.
