If you’re into soulslikes and action RPGs, No Rest for the Wicked offers a promising blend of both, backed by striking visuals. This weekend, the game can be tried for free – even on the Steam Deck.

No Rest for the Wicked is an isometric action RPG in the vein of Diablo or Path of Exile. What sets it apart is its pronounced Souls-like influence. Combat emphasizes precise timing and tactical decision-making, driven by a stamina system that governs every action. Weapons differ in weight, reach, and moveset, and are not limited to offense – they also play a central role in blocking and parrying. Alongside deep loot and character customization, the game features integrated systems for crafting and housing. Notably, the developers have opted to exclude microtransactions entirely.

The story in No Rest for the Wicked does not break new ground, but it serves its purpose. Players step into the role of a member of the Order of Cerim, sent to the island of Sacra to halt the spread of a mysterious plague. Powered by the Unity Engine, the game stands out thanks to its striking visual style. Its blend of action RPG and Souls-like mechanics has resonated with players so far, with 79% of more than 57,000 Steam reviews rated positive. Combat is frequently highlighted as one of the game’s strongest elements, particularly by players who enjoy experimenting with different builds. Criticism mainly focuses on typical early access issues, as the game has yet to see a full release. Balance is another recurring concern, with some players feeling that encounters can be unfair at times.

If the $40 Early Access price tag has kept you away so far, this weekend offers a great opportunity to try No Rest for the Wicked for free. The game is available at no cost until Monday at 6 PM UTC. Those who decide to continue can take advantage of a 40% discount until February 5, reducing the price to around $24. Handheld players are included as well, as No Rest for the Wicked is Steam Deck Verified (available on Amazon for $685). As for the full release, Austrian developer Moon Studios has yet to confirm how long the game will remain in Early Access.
