Epic Games Store has revealed the penultimate PC free game for January 2026, and it's an open-world title: Rustler (Grand Theft Horse). With top-down mechanics, it offers classic GTA-style gameplay and is well-received by players.

The latest freebie on the PC free game section of Epic Games Store is Rustler (Grand Theft Horse). This is the penultimate giveaway for January 2026, and the next one, which has already been revealed, will go live soon.

That also means that the new free game will not be available for a long time. Like the past giveaways, it will stay live for a week, expiring on January 29, 2026, at UTC 16:00.

Interestingly, Rustler was originally released as a parody game. It puts players in control of a character called Guy, who aims to win a tournament prize that somehow involves marrying a princess. As for how players can achieve the goal, the process is almost irrelevant, and instead, it's the chaos that matters.

Gurad chases, public brawls, and absurd side quests are the main draw of this Epic Games Store free game. Ruster is also a sandbox, and the top-down perspective with a wanted-level system should make it easy for those who played the classic Grand Theft Auto games.

There are pop-culture references, and the game's humor leans heavily towards immaturity. The controls are simple, and it has a basic skill tree that's easy to comprehend. However, the mission structure can feel repetitive over time, and the melee encounters are often janky, but these aren't dealbreakers.

On Steam, Rustler (Grand Theft Horse) has over 1,100 reviews, and among them 79% are positive. When not discounted, it goes for $24.99, with Steam's recorded lowest price being $3.74. This currently free game on Epic Games Store also has relaxed system specs, meaning it will run well on most decently equipped systems (32/512GB GMKtec K12 curr. $599.98 on Amazon).
