It seems that a good number of new free games from August 2025 went under the radar, as X user @SteamGamesPC has recently discovered many freebies that were released last month. Of course, not all of them seem worth trying, but a handful of these $0 titles have a good player reception, which are:
- Croak Cafe: From Pond to Plate - a roguelike adventure title with challenging bosses. This free game was released on Steam on August 26, and it currently sports a "Positive" rating.
- Watertight - described as a first-person horror game that's Titanic-themed. It was released on Steam on August 26, and the title currently sports a "Very Positive" rating.
- What The Hack! - a puzzle game with a humorous hacking-themed story. This freebie became available on August 22, and it currently sports a "Positive" player rating.
- Kaelaverse: Pemascape - released on August 30, this is an action-adventure title with a heavy focus on exploration. This free game currently sports a "Very Positive" rating that's based on 300 player reviews.
- FoE Remains - a 2D roguelike with RPG elements. This free Steam game became available on August 29, and it currently boasts a "Very Positive" rating.
- Narrow One - described as a fast-paced archery game with tactical 5v5 battles. It launched on August 26 and currently sports a "Mostly Positive" player rating.
- Scaredy Cat - an adventure game with a short yet emotional narrative. This freebie became available on August 25 and is rated "Positive" by players.
- Changgwi - a co-op horror game with support for up to 4-player online play. It was released on August 28 and is rated "Positive" by Steam players.
- Deep Snake - a casual game that lets players play as a snake hunting for apples. This freebie was released on August 22, has proper controller support (EasySMX D05 curr. $39.59 on Amazon), and currently has a "Very Positive" rating.
- Silent Residence - described as a first-person horror game with a schizophrenic's story. It was released on Steam on August 21 and is rated "Positive" by players.
- Cheese Rolling - a physics-based chaotic multiplayer title with proximity voice chat and offline singleplayer mode. This free game launched on August 20 and currently boasts an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating that's based on over 1,400 reviews.
