Free Tesla FSD transfer deal extended as a year-around offer
Faced with peer pressure during a shareholder event in June, Elon Musk reneged and extended Tesla's free FSD transfer offer into Q3 as well.
"We have to make money somehow," he chirped initially, but when the audience started chanting "one more quarter," he laughed and agreed "ok, one more quarter" right there on the stage.
Tesla made good on his promise, and people who owned FSD were able to transfer their driver-assist feature to any new vehicle they bought in the July-September period.
Now, however, the free FSD transfer deal is back for this last quarter as well, marking the first time that it has been available year-around.
Tesla has started sending messages to FSD owners via the mobile app, notifying them that they would qualify for the free FSD transfer deal provided that they take delivery of a new Tesla car by December 31, 2024.
The offer is stackable with all other Tesla promos, new or extended, that in aggregate present an unprecedented sales push into the holiday quarter.
Besides the free FSD transfer, Tesla also extended the zero down payment offer from last quarter, pairing it with way lower, 0.99% loan rate this time around. The cherry on the top, however, is the record low 0% APR financing rate for the Model Y and Model 3 that Tesla introduced this week.
The low Tesla interest rate offers, however, are conditioned on an FSD purchase. Tesla is obviously trying to get as many cars with FSD on the road as possible to gain intervention statistics for regulators that have to approve the Robotaxi for public roads at some point.
The free FSD transfer offer extension slots well into that strategy, as it may entice owners who already use the feature on their current vehicle, to upgrade to a new one if they can take FSD with them.
