Foxconn Model E: Pininfarina showcases the 750 hp and 750 km EV at Hong Kong MotorXpo
Pininfarina has exhibited the Model E, unveiled by Foxconn last month. The Model E is available to view at the Hong Kong MotorXpo (IMXHK), held at the AsiaWorld-Expo until December 5. Incidentally, other major vehicle brands are at IMXHK, as shown in the table below:
For reference, Foxconn brands it vehicle division 'Foxtron'. Foxconn will not sell the Model E directly, nor did it manufacture the vehicle. Instead, the Model E serves as a reference vehicle for Foxconn's EV platform. Yulun Motor built the Model E too, which is Foxconn's first EV platform customer.
While photos taken at the IMXHK do not show it, the Model E can transform its rear cabin into a mobile office of sorts. Supposedly, personal mobile devices will seamlessly connect with the EV, all with the aim of tempting corporate customers to choose Foxconn's efforts over a Tesla Model S, or an equivalent luxury EV.
Foxconn and Pininfarina claim that the Model E's electric motors deliver up to 750 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds. While not as quick as a Tesla Model S Plaid, Foxconn asserts that the Model E has a superior range. Allegedly, the Model E will last up to 750 km between charges, roughly 466 miles. By contrast, Tesla estimates that the Model S Plaid has a 396-mile range.
