Fisker Inc has just recently started delivering its Ocean electric SUVs to customers in Europe and the US, and the company recently gave us a look at its upcoming PEAR city crossover. Both of Fisker's current vehicles claim impressive range figures in excess of 300 miles (483 km). Now, Fisker appears to be dropping hints about its upcoming Ronin electric convertible GT sports car — specifically indicating an August 3 release date — which it set to dial Fisker's range lead up to eleven (via ArenaEV).
The Ronin is slated to arrive with more than 600 miles (966 km) of range — a number that's fairly trustworthy, given Fisker's Ocean exceeded the company's own expectations when it came to WTLP and EPA range. Although the company has published little information about the Ronin, we have a good idea of what's to come, thanks to leaks, teases, and speculation.
It has been reported that the Ronin will be capable of reaching 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in as little as two seconds, which might even beat out the Tesla Model S Plaid, depending on how Fisker measures its 0–60 times. Fisker has also said that the Ronin will be a four-seater convertible GT car with a three-motor, AWD drivetrain. That means it should perform admirably, even in wet weather, although rigidity and handling is a common complaint for convertibles, so that may put a damper on the excitement of the Ronin as a performance EV.
All that range and performance comes at great expense, with a predicted price tag of over US$100,000 — significantly more than the US$38,000 starting price of the Ocean and the predicted US$30,000 MSRP of the PEAR. If the Ronin does come to market featuring all of that range and performance, it's probably going to be a heavy little vehicle,
The Ronin also seems to be going in a similar direction to the Tesla Model X, except instead of Falcon-wing doors, the Ronin appears to feature suicide doors for rear passengers, which is a neat touch to stand out from the crowd.
