All-electric 2024 Acura ZDX unveiled, brings up to 500-horsepower, 190 kW DC fast charging, features Google built-in

Acura has relaunched the ZDX badge it retired over a decade ago with the unveiling of the new Acura ZDX A-Spec and the sports-oriented ZDX Type S. In ZDX A-Spec trim with its 340-horsepower single motor configuration, it can deliver a range of up to 325 miles, which only drops slightly to 315 miles in ZDX Type S dual-motor trim with its more powerful 500-horsepower combined output. The Acura ZDX supports charging speeds up to 190 kW DC with its lithium-ion battery capacity rated at a solid 102 kWh.

The ZDX A-Spec runs on 20-inch alloy rims fitted with all-season rubber, while the Type S picks up 22-inch alloy rims with all-season rubber – although Type S customers will also get the option of summer-only tires. In terms of suspension, both models feature a multi-link type front and rear with the A-Spec relying on fixed coils and amplitude reactive dampers where the Type S gains air suspension mated to high-performance adaptive dampers. When it comes to the anchors, the ZDX A-Spec relies on regular ventilated front discs and solid rear discs with the sportier Type S variant gaining Brembo front stoppers.

In terms of its interior, the car centers on a Google built-in software system that manages all the ZDX’s driver-controlled systems and vehicle telemetry. Key advantages of this approach include the very effective Google Assistant being the default system voice assistance, while Google Maps is also the default mapping system, which is also generally a good thing. iPhone users need not fret as the ZDX still supports Apple CarPlay. Information is displayed on an 11-inch cockpit cluster and an 11.3-inch center console, while audio is delivered over a powerful high-end Bang & Olufsen 18-speaker system with 14-channels of amplification.

The Acura ZDX A-Spec and Type S will be up for pre-order later this year and will be the first the company will make available for purchase through online channels only. Pricing starts from $70,000.
