AMD has managed to do what few thought possible. Team Red's Radeon GPUs reportedly outsold Nvidia GeForce GPUs on Amazon US for the first time ever.

It can be argued that the current desktop gaming GPU generation is going quite well for AMD. This is despite the fact that there are no flagship RDNA 4 GPUs, and AMD has made some questionable pricing decisions. Things have apparently gone so well for AMD that Team Red has, for the first time ever, sold more Radeon GPUs than Nvidia GeForce cards on Amazon.

TechEpiphany, which curates Amazon CPU and GPU sales data, reports on X that AMD “overtook Nvidia in GPU unit sales on Amazon US” for the first time ever. The overall state of the DIY gaming PC market is still not good. So, the total unit sales of GPUs have gone down. However, since the GPUs themselves have gotten much more expensive, overall revenue has “soared”.

Now, AMD’s apparent success can be attributed to a few key reasons. For starters, Nvidia seems no longer interested in the consumer GPU market. The company has reportedly discontinued the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 to take advantage of the AI market before it implodes. Nvidia is also seemingly producing fewer GPUs, which has resulted in the price of desktop cards rising sharply.

For instance, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, which launched back in April 2025 at $429, is currently retailing for above $700 on Amazon. The same is true for the RTX 5060, the RTX 5070, and the RTX 5070 Ti.

While AMD Radeon GPUs have also suffered price increases, the situation is noticeably better. For instance, the RX 9070 XT, which is a direct competitor to the RTX 5070 Ti, can be found for as low as $920, while most RTX 5070 Ti models are retailing for above $1,700 on Amazon.

We hope things improve next year for the consumer GPU market, as the proposed AI market slowdown forces AMD and Nvidia to refocus on the neglected DIY segment.
