Firefly has debuted a brand-new SBC. As its name suggests, the Firefly ROC-RK3588-RT comes equipped with a Rockchip RK3558 processor. And for its three onboard Ethernet ports, the board is a perfect pick for networking applications and complex cloud-based workloads.

The ROC-RK3588-RT has joined Firefly’s SBC lineup. This brand-new SBC packs the Rockchip RK3558 SoC, which features eight cores, an ARM Mali-G610 GPU, and a 6 TOPS NPU. Firefly expects the SBC to power mini PCs, ARM PCs, cloud servers, edge computing systems, industrial control systems, and smart NVRs.

To make the ROC-RK3588-RT suitable for these applications, Firefly has equipped it with a versatile array of ports. These ports include:

  • 1x HDMI 2.1
  • 1x HDMI 2.0
  • 1x USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 support
  • 1x 3.5 mm audio
  • 1x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
  • 2x Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1x USB 3.0
  • 1x USB 2.0

Additionally, the Firefly ROC-RK3588-RT SBC has an M.2 E-Key and M.2 2242 socket for SSD, WiFi, and Bluetooth. There is also a 60-pin BTB connector and support for multiple PCIe configurations. And it can be configured with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

By default, Firefly ships the ROC-RK3588-RT with Android 12. However, the company has Debian and Ubuntu images for the board.

Regarding pricing, the base model of the Firefly ROC-RK3588-RT is currently listed at US$229 on the official website. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage.

On that note, there’s an industrial variant available for the SBC. The main difference is that it can work optimally in a wider temperature range. Also, its CPU is clocked lower at 2.2 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz.
