Fans waiting for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Marvel's Avengers will have to wait a bit longer, unfortunately. Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been delayed one month and is now slated to release on 10th April. Marvel's Avengers, meanwhile, has been delayed by three months and will now release on 4th December.
In an extended Twitter post, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's director Yoshinori Kitase said that the delay was "in order to ensure we deliver a game that is in line with our vision." Meanwhile, Marvel's Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics apologized in a blog post. They claimed that the three-month delay was for "fine-tuning and polishing the game."
While gamers might have more refined experiences to look forward to, the delays aren't good news for publisher Square Enix's bottom line. The producer may struggle to reach its fiscal targets: Final Fantasy 7 Remake is now slated to arrive at the end of the final quarter of this fiscal year. Meanwhile, Avengers will only arrive in Q2 next fiscal year.
Worse still, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's new launch date puts it in direct competition with Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most hotly anticipated titles in years. Regardless of the financials, we expect gamers will get the polished experiences they deserve this April and September.
