Fenix E04R: Rotating clip-on flashlight for $30 now available

Fenix has introduced the E04R, a clip-style flashlight with a rotating design. Fenix had already previewed the flashlight at IWA in Nuremberg. It has now been officially unveiled by the manufacturer. Thanks to a rotating mount on the clip, the flashlight head can rotate 360 degrees.
This allows the main light, which consists of two LEDs, to be aimed in different directions as needed. The light is also emitted at a 40-degree angle, which is useful when attached to a jacket pocket or a backpack strap. It delivers up to 300 lumens or a range of 151 feet. Fenix lists battery life at 1 hour 40 minutes in this high mode but notes that temperature regulation applies here. In other words, the LEDs dim if the unit gets too warm.
In unrestricted continuous operation, it is said to provide 100 lumens or 92 feet. Battery life then comes in at 2 hours 40 minutes. There is also a low mode, 11 hours 40 minutes at 25 lumens, and a moonlight mode with 1 lumen. In the latter mode, the E04R lasts 87 hours.
The main light can also shine in red. The lumen ratings are, as expected, significantly lower. In the bright mode, 12 lumens, the flashlight lasts 6 hours 40 minutes. In the more efficient low mode, 5 lumens, it lasts 19 hours 30 minutes.
There is also a side light, which is intended more as a warning flasher than for illuminating the surroundings. Fenix has used RGB LEDs here, arranged in a ring shape. In addition to standard flashing, a rotating effect is also possible. The battery is built in and charges via USB-C. The flashlight is rated IP66 and is designed to survive a drop of up to 3.3 feet.
The official price of this flashlight is $30 at the manufacturer's official US store, and it's available in white and black. Wider retail availability is expected to follow with a slight delay. Fenix flashlights are also sold by various other retailers in the US and other countries.
