FCC confirms Google Android TV dongle and multi-function remote
XDA Developers has revealed several details about Google's next streaming device, codenamed Sabrina. Possibly to be marketed under the Nest brand according to Protocol, Google will pitch the Sabrina as a competitor to the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Roku Streaming Stick. Presumably, the device will compete against Xiaomi's upcoming Mi TV Stick, too.
The Sabrina is apparently based on an Amlogic processor and will support Dolby Vision. The device has an "oblong shape" with a "sandstone-like texture" and will be available in three colours. One of these colours will be pink, a colour that Google last used for the Pixel 3 series.
XDA Developers also claims that the Sabrina will come with a remote. An FCC listing for an upcoming Primax remote affirms this. Assigned the FCC ID EMJRGPJ100, one document that has already been published pertains to the device being a Google Remote.
Additionally, the FCC has certified a Primax dongle, also a Google device. Assigned the ID EMJDGPJ100, the listing suggests that the device may only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
The Sabrina is expected to launch in the next few months for under US$80. The dongle will feature a new Android TV UI too, teasers of which XDA Developers has also published.
