Huawei P Smart S renders leak: 48MP triple camera, teardrop notch, Kirin 710, and no Google services. DOA compared to the Redmi Note 9?
Tipster @evleaks recently outed what appear to be official renders for the upcoming Huawei P Smart S budget smartphone. The P Smart S is the immediate successor to 2019's Huawei P Smart, a budget device with a dual-camera setup and the Kirin 710 SoC.
The P Smart S appears to be an iterative upgrade to 2019's Huawei P Smart. The basic design, with a teardrop display and bezel "chin" remains unchanged. However, the P Smart's dual-camera setup has been swapped out for a 48MP triple camera. The renders indicate that the P Smart S will come in at least three colors: Emerald Green, Breathing Crystal, and Midnight Black.
The Huawei P Smart S is set to go up against Xiaomi's Redmi Note 9, a phone with a similar design, but sporting the faster Mediatek Helio G85 and a 48MP quad camera array. Considering the P Smart S will likely be priced similarly, there's really no reason to get it over the Redmi Note 9.
The latter device is faster, takes better photos, features a punch hole display, and offers Google services.
