Google Android 11 Developer Preview confirms upcoming Android TV dongle
Google has released the first Android 11 Developer Preview for Android TV, and it contains a morsel of some new hardware that the company has in the pipeline. Spotted by XDA Developers, the preview software includes a video named "reboot_sabrina" which, as its name suggests, shows you how to reboot the "Sabrina". As we have previously reported, Sabrina is the codename for Google's upcoming TV dongle.
The design of the dongle matches the images that XDA Developers published earlier this month. According to information obtained by the website, Google will release the Sabrina in three colours and with a remote control. Additionally, the Sabrina is expected to include the following hardware:
- Amlogic S905X2 SoC - 4x ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores & ARM MAli-G31 MP2 GPU
- 2 GB of RAM
- Broadcom BCM43569 modem - Bluetooth 4.1 & 802.11 ac Wi-Fi
- Cadence’s Tensilica HiFi 4 DSP
The Sabrina is thought to support Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG too. The Developer Preview is available to download now, but Google intends the image only to be run on the ADT-3 developer kit. You can purchase the ADT-3 from Askey, but it will not run Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.
