Leaked firmware reveals that Asus developed ROG Phone 10 and 10 Pro models, codenamed “Boston,” with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips, Wi-Fi 7, and distinct camera systems. The devices were reportedly canceled following Asus’s 2026 withdrawal from the smartphone market, leaving the firmware dump as the clearest record of the unreleased gaming phones.

A firmware dump from an engineering prototype reviewed by us reveals details on the Asus ROG Phone 10 and ROG Phone 10 Pro, internally codenamed "Boston" and sharing the model number AI2601, which were in development but have since been canceled following Asus's withdrawal from the smartphone market in 2026. The dump includes full camera, chipset, and connectivity specs for both models.

Performance & Connectivity

The firmware ties "Boston" to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, alongside sub-6 GHz 5G connectivity, UFS 4.0 storage, and LPDDR5X memory. Wi-Fi is handled by Qualcomm's WCN7750 paired with a "Kiwi v2" front-end module, enabling Wi-Fi 7.

Cameras

The ROG Phone 10 Pro's camera setup lists a 50MP OV50Q 1/1.3" main sensor—the same OmniVision part used in the standard Xiaomi 17—paired with a 13MP OV13B10 ultrawide. The telephoto camera uses a 32MP S5KJD1SM (Samsung ISOCELL JD1) module that handles 3x zoom, while a 32MP OV32C front-facing camera handles selfies.

The base ROG Phone 10 configuration extracted from the same dump is more conservative: a 50MP IMX766 main sensor, a 13MP OV13B10 ultrawide, and a 5MP GC05A2 macro camera, with no telephoto camera at all. Selfies are handled by the same 32MP OV32C sensor used in the Pro variant.

Unclear future for ROG phones

With the ROG Phone line now on pause for 2026, this leak may be the closest the 10th generation ever comes to actually shipping.
